Wednesday, October 1, 2008 Partial realities are dangerous. Elections are interesting because they bring patterns of thought to light. Today, in Pennsylvania, a local precinct moved a voting place away from a high-crime area in a public housing complex to a safer place a few hundred yards away. Immediately, local Democrats began to wail, "This is voter suppression, and it's a typical, vicious Republican attack on Democracy!" Those same Democrats utterly ignore vast the voter fraud intentionally perpetrated all across the United States by ACORN and similar groups. They cannot let themselves see any more reality than that which serves their needs. Such a selective reaction to facts has a terrible effect on the mind, and a far deadlier effect on the soul. First, it indicates that people are telling themselves a grotesque lie: "Bad things that members of my Party do mean nothing. The only thing that matters is how an opponent's action affects me and the Party that I support." It is impossible to love one's neighbor as oneself when criminalizing what opponents do while approving of worse things that one's own group does. This attitude separates people most obviously from their neighbors; less obviously it separates them, and makes them disobey, the God Who made us all and told us to love both Him and our neighbors. Selecting the outrages that offend us, while ignoring greater ones, opens a doorway down which souls slide to perdition.
Thursday, October 2, 2008 Anger, the distortion of reality. Those on the left are angrier than those on the right. This anger comes from the remnants of the logic with which all of us were born. Just as we were born with Original Sin, we were also born with a similarly innate respect for truth. When we choose lies over truth, that pole of the soul that is drawn to God, often futilely, says to the angry pole, "If you keep lying and hating, I'm the one who has to go to hell with you. Can't you just start telling the truth and loving people?" "I was angry yesterday, I am angrier today, and I'm going to be even angrier tomorrow. If you don't like it, you can lump it." That "good pole" of the soul is weakened, rage rules, and the soul develops a charge that will cause it to be numbered among the damned. The only way that any soul's rage can be dissipated is by receiving love. Love can actually shift the polarization so that the otherwise lost soul begins loving the good and the true. One of the hardest things we can do is to love an evil person, let alone "do good to them who hurt you." But, that's our job.
Friday, October 3, 2008 There are two sides. Only two. Many are confused by the seemingly different parts of society. They ask, "Why is the media so biased in favor of the left?". Or, "Why are some elected officials doing things that hurt so many of us?". These kinds of questions betray a near-paralyzing world view that cripples many well-intentioned people. Things are easier to understand if we simply divide all individuals, as God does, into two groups. Ultimately, there are only two kinds of people, those who love and obey God and those in the Culture of Death. When we reflect this in our own thinking, we quickly see that most of the media, death-supporting politicians, most celebrities, and leftists of pink, red, and green hues, are all working for the Culture of Death, whose many brigades try to drive us all into the pit. We, on our side, realize that our most important job is to save our own souls. We do this by supporting life, loving our neighbors, obeying God, doing what is right, and avoiding the temptations that lead us into sin. Those on the other side will do whatever they can to destroy, "painify", or shorten life. Those in the Culture of Death despise their neighbors, and make them poorer and less free at every opportunity. In their own lives, they tend to give into sins, which they justify as "enlightenment", while they go down the broad path to destruction. Identifying who's on which side is easy. Making sure that we live on the right side is slightly more difficult, but God certainly would not have programmed things in such a way that it could be too difficult for anyone to be able to summon the will to love and obey Him.
Saturday, October 4, 2008 Problems or solutions? America, like Rome, was built by people who could solve problems. It, like Rome, will be destroyed by new generations of people who prefer that no problem be solved. In the economy of the left, money flows to those most concerned about "important problems that must be solved". The more problems, the more funding. Just as tumors grow in the body, crowding out its ability to survive, so leftists invade and multiply, all in the name of "fairness" or "saving the ______." All the while, no real problem is allowed to be solved. If non-productive beings are allowed to multiply and grow, they will destroy the body, whether human or politic, from which they have taken ever-greater amounts of resources and wasted them. Solution-haters and problem-lovers in politics destroy the body in which they live because that's what they want to do. The tiny beings that cause tumors and disease do so because that is their nature.
Saturday, October 4, 2008 The Golden Bowls tell us of the relationship between us and The Loving Programmer. Catholic Fundamentalists visualize God as The Loving Programmer. He has the Power to program particles, and compile them into systems and beings. He did all this to provide us, His most complicated programs, with free will. He has provided us two avenues to learn about and grow closer to Him. One is the teaching of The Church that He left behind, to be guided by The Holy Wireless Connector. The other is the Scripture that He inspired. The Book of Revelations is the most complicated Book in Scripture. While we may not completely understand it, there are clues within that show us some of the relationships between us and Him. Rev; 5:7-9: "The Lamb came forward to take the scroll (Program) from the right hand of the One sitting on the throne, and when He took it, the four animals prostrated themselves before Him and with them the twenty-four elders; each one of them was holding a harp and had a golden bowl full of incense made of the prayers of the saints." We see from this that our prayers do not go directly to God, but to one of the twenty four Elders whose thrones surround the Throne of God. There, they take actual form, and rest in one of the appropriate Golden Bowls. Some may infer from this that there are twenty four types of prayers, each going to the proper repository. Though our prayers have taken form in Heaven, they have not yet reached the actual presence of God. That happens in Rev; 8:3-5: "Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. A large quantity of incense was given to him to offer with the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar that stood in front of the throne; and so from the angel's hand the smoke of the incense went up in the presence of God and with it the prayers of the saints." The verses that immediately follow show how the prayers are returned to earth: "Then the angel took the censer and filled it with the fire from the altar, which he then threw down on to the earth; immediately there came peals of thunder and flashes of lightning, and the earth shook." So, our prayers rise to Heaven, or are taken there by angels, and are deposited into the Golden Bowls held by the twenty four Elders whose thrones circle the throne of God. From there, our prayers go to the altar, to the Very Presence of God. The answer to our prayers is shown by the "peals of thunder and flashes of lightning and the shaking of the earth". This refers to the re-programming that God does in response to what we have asked. Much of the thunder, flashes of lightning, and shaking of the earth is beyond our ability to sense. It goes on every second of every minute of every hour of every day of every week of every month of every year of every decade of every century of every millennium until His Program has run its course. Our prayers, therefore, become a part of history, prompting the re-programming of all that follows. They are among the most important things we produce. Additional note: There is a question as to whether or not our prayers are actually "living things" in the Kingdom of God, and they fly to Him as moths to light. It may be that angels take, or guide, our prayers up to the Golden Bowls, and from them to The Altar. Each one of The Elders may specialize in a type of prayer. If so, there may be 24 types of prayers. Most of our prayers are requests for pretty much the same thing. Many of us ask God for health, money, children, help for us and our families, removing physical, emotional, and spiritual pain and impediments, success in individual enterprises, success in battle, employment, marriage, new entities that will help us get along better, forgiveness, joy, and, did I mention money? Sunday, October 5, 2008 Understanding the other side. Lots of conservatives rail about liberals, socialists, and communists without understanding what motivates the leaders of those groups. All on the left are envious at the success the Stalinists had, first in the Soviet Union, then in the United States. Here, Stalinists took over and endlessly expanded their vast Public Education Empire to provide endless jobs, tenure, benefits, and pensions that every envious soul would sell itself to obtain. The "leftists on the out", personified by the murdered Leon Trotsky, want their own empires, too. They've wanted their own source of funding for decades, and have coalesced within the Environista Movement, whose organizations they control. Their goal is to make an Empire of Energy, complete with its own, new money (carbon credits), jobs, funding, judicial backing, and legislative mandates. The Empire of Energy they are building is based on keeping energy in short supply, expensive, and obtainable only from them. They want to turn the world's production and distribution of energy into exactly what the Stalinists have in Public Education, a monopoly under their control. They will lose because they make the same mistake that Trotsky made, which was to threaten the funding of the Stalinists. While the main prong of their attack seems to be against the mass of people they want to drain and control, their war is focused on destroying the funding for the Stalinist Empire, their most dangerous enemy. When Environmentalists, for instance, make it impossible to put septic tanks in America's rural areas, they stop the building of homes, factories, and offices. That's one of many ways to stop the flow of new property taxes that the rural Stalinists need for their own salaries and benefits. When Environmental Trotskyites keep nuclear power plants from being built, taxpayers find that their heating and electric bills triple and quadruple. That makes them fight harder against the Stalinist's eternal demand for higher property taxes they need to fund their Public Education Empire. The Clinton/Gore Administration was an uneasy alliance between the Stalinists and the Trotskyites. Both Clintons supported the Public Education Empire, and owed their election to the Stalinists who control it. The Trotskyites were represented in their administration by Gore, whose descent into environmental madness has made him an admired figure of bitter environistas. He continues to battle for the Trotskyites, blatantly swelling his own assets in the process. Trotskyites saw their opportunity with Obama. To get help with funding, they formed an alliance with the Moslems, also dependent on keeping the West from being self-sufficient in energy, to support him in order to destroy Hillary, the Stalinists' candidate. Her defeat was an important part of undermining the Stalinists, most of whom, frankly, are not bright enough to understand how effective the attack on them has been. Obama will guarantee that a trillion energy dollars a year continues to flow from America to the governments of its bitterest enemies while making sure that more trillions are wasted on armies of "Green Workers" and ACORN organizers. Mr. Obama will do for the Trotskyites' Energy Empire what the now sleeping army of Teachers' Union members used to do for the Stalinists. If the Teachers' Unions don't wake up, they're going to find themselves in the same place as Stalin, isolated, weakened, and murdered by the Trotskyites' bitter poison.
Tuesday, October 7, 2008 Not much warming on this globe. Still, there are many possible dangers. It's hard to see any signs of global warming on our precious planet during the month of September. Even though the zigzag blue line shows that there's been an increase of deadly carbon dioxide, which still hasn't broken through the dreaded 400 parts per million level, global temperatures continue to drop. In a year or two, we might reach the apocalyptic 400 parts per million of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Then, the entire globe may see monthly temperature increases of three to five degrees. Some believe that monthly temperature increases may increase geometrically at that point, providing us 9 to 15 degree increases in temperature every month. In less than a year of that, life as we know it on earth will disappear. Another thing that's changed is the output of solar energy. Last month, the sun had no sunspots at all. Only one or two tiny ones, this month. If this continues, within twenty to twenty six months, global temperatures may begin to fall as much as eleven degrees per month. In less than a year of falling temperatures, life as we know it on earth will disappear. The only thing that appears likely to save us is if: A. Carbon dioxide levels begin to increase more rapidly, ensuring a huge increase global warming. B. Solar energy output declines exactly to match the increase in carbon dioxide-related global warming. If both of these conditions occur, it may be that life as we know it on earth may continue another three or four years. Maybe, five. Many, many more studies are needed, immediately.
Wednesday, October 8, 2008 It's up to us. Americans have collectively lost three or four trillion dollars from the latest Trotskyite attack on America's financial assets. The Republican candidate seems reluctant to put the blame squarely where it belongs; the Democrats' steadfast refusal to provide oversight for Fannie and Freddie. Many Americans are blaming "the media", as if "the media" is separate from the Trotskyite wing of the Democratic Party that has hijacked most of it. "The Media" is merely one identifiable arm of the octopus that wants to strangle freedom, prosperity, enjoyment, and life. So, all we can do is encourage others to seek and fight for the truth that Mr. McCain seems so strangely silent about.
Thursday, October 9, 2008 Why they hate. When we look at left-wing websites, we see a great deal of profanity and name-calling. The same thing is obvious on left-wing television stations. Anger, outrage, hostility, and hate lead the left from insult to insult. Along with the hate, there are lies. The left has always been fond of lies. Those who tell them are children of the Father of Lies, and they can only gain his approval by lying. The Father of Lies is also the Father of Hatred. Eve was the first to sin, then got Adam to do so. Cain was the first to murder. All three of them were led astray by The Father of Lies, and the first lie he got people to believe was that they were as good as God. Those who decide to join the family of the Father of Lies know, at some level, that they have souls and that their own choices will condemn their souls to eternal agony. That's why they're mad all the time. They know they've made a mistake, and they just aren't able to turn away from those mistakes. Many, many broad paths have been provided for them. Each leads them farther and farther from the possibility of drawing their souls back to the loving Father who wants them to be saved, but Who cannot intervene unless we ask Him to do so. That's why we have to pray for the bitter and the unhappy. We are the only chance they have, and they hate us, ultimately, because they know that we aren't praying enough for them.
Thursday, October 9, 2008 Collapsing markets helps those who collapse them. We can see the results in the market (down 650 points today) of those trying to cause distress by attacking the financial markets before an election. It's obvious that those causing the huge declines profit both ways. When they drive down the value of others' savings, they can buy them more cheaply. After the election, which is tending toward Obama, the stocks they bought inexpensively will rebound in value, and they will make, collectively, trillions more than the trillions they made by selling short.
Friday, October 10, 2008 Something new. Something old. Imagine, if you will, a large and hungry octopus. Its name is "Culture of Death". Instead of suction cups, each of its long, powerful arms has different kinds of magnets that attract souls whose charges are so weak and confused they are unable to resist the magnets' pull. Once the souls are "stuck" on whatever magnet of whatever arm is designed to hold them fast, they are drawn to the octopus's gaping maw, and are forever drained in the painful process called "damnation". One of the octopus's arms is labeled "Media". Each lie that it tells is a magnet that draws the simpler souls to it. Another arm is labeled "Deception", and its magnets can attract some souls to it in order to help "solve important problems". A third arm is labeled "Lust". It perpetually tries to make souls susceptible to the sins of the flesh. Another arm is "Greed", and it attracts souls with an affinity to material things. The "Power" arm offers domination over the minds and bodies of other souls. It attracts those hungry for power over their neighbors. "Sloth" is an arm whose magnets are able to enervate souls, making them do nothing in the face of danger. "Envy" makes souls hate their neighbors for having anything at all. All its arms have one goal, to draw as many souls into the octopus's ravenous maw as possible. They endlessly encourage belief in false idols even as they undermine any Christian teaching that gives souls the power to resist the many, many magnets trying to draw them to death and destruction. It's a great help to see that every power which encourages lies, hate, and death is just another arm of a single, cold-blooded being. Understanding that helps us better focus our own spiritual power where it will do the most good; asking for the strength to resist evil while we ask for the grace to grow closer to God. At the same time, we may profitably ask God to destroy the evil being whose writhing arms draw so many souls to ruin. An old and powerful prayer helps: "St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen."
Saturday, October 11, 2008 Who gets to go to Heaven? None of us know for sure if we will be saved. Even the holiest among us can give in to sin, and be drawn into the Culture of Death before the soul leaves the body. We can, however, make some basic assumptions. If we imagine a "spiritual bell curve", we can picture that the souls on the right half of the bell curve are closer to God than those on the other side of that frightening divide. Those souls who may be saved have one thing in common; they are pro-life. Those who are not pro-life are on the left half of the "spiritual bell curve". They are in the Culture of Death. It is impossible to read Scripture honestly without concluding that idolaters, child-sacrificers, fornicators, thieves, adulterers, abortion approvers, etc. who die in that state of sin cannot get into Heaven. It is also clear that those who die as Apostate Catholics cannot get into Heaven. Those who publicly insist that their personal anti-Catholic beliefs are somehow in accord with Catholic teachings only compound their sins, ensuring even greater eternal pain for their own souls. God hates those who have chosen The Culture of Death. He hates even more those who insist that there is nothing wrong with The Culture of Death. He reserves even greater hatred for those who twist the teachings of His Church in any way that supports their heretical positions. There are many Catholic politicians who both take Communion and support abortion. All of them are familiar with the Teachings of The Church. They may rely on the possibility of a "deathbed confession" to save them. It is true that a last-minute plea for forgiveness can save a soul. But, if a lifetime of supporting lies, death, theft, and hurt is based on being forgiven by that final Confession, it must be considered that it may be invalidated because it's not complete enough, unless all the deep, wilful deceptions that accompany their apostasy are also confessed. Even as they draw their dying breath, their demons of vanity will be working hard to keep them from seeing how utterly damnable their decisions have been, doing their best to keep a proper Confession from being made. Most pro-abortion people do not consider the effects of their own sins on their own soul. Most have deluded themselves into believing both that they have not sinned, and that, if they have sinned, it was for "the greater good", a popular name for one of the most dangerous idols of all. Indeed, many will make that last Confession by saying, "I disobeyed the teachings of The Church for a greater good." The clear meaning of that is, even when they are dying and confessing, they are still violating the First Commandment, "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me." If they do understand that, it's hard to see how they'd have enough time to squeeze all that they've done wrong into that final Confession. While banking on a Deathbed Confession may make a certain amount of sense for some, it must be remembered that a dying Martin Luther's last act was to call for a priest to whom he could confess his sins and obtain Absolution. The priest did not get there in time. Some may assume that God did not want him to.
Saturday, October 11, 2008 Trotskyites are everywhere. Last night, Public Television featured Bill Moyers admiring George Soros for an hour or so. Mr. Soros laid out the agenda for the world, in which Global Warming featured prominently. He's obviously a very intelligent man, but neither he nor Mr. Moyers seemed to have actually examined Global Warming to see if it was a real problem. They do agree, however, that it is the most serious problem of our times, and needs every government in the world to join in solving. One got the impression that neither would welcome any argument about the existence of Global Warming or about the "fact" that it is caused by human activities. Mr. Moyer's sincerity was, as usual, literally dripping with every sentence. He is one of the most sincere people on Public Television, which is to say that he is one of the sincerest people in the world. One could reasonably conclude that he believed sincerity to be far more important than truth. In their zeal to build up the Trotskyite Energy Empire, their feet of clay is the fact that earth's temperatures have been dropping for nearly a decade. Worse for them, it will be halfway through the next solar cycle until things start warming up, again. No matter. The Trotskyites are in search of their own empire. Damn the facts! Full speed ahead!
Sunday, October 12, 2008 "In America, the working class is Democrat, the middle class is Republican, and the rich are Communists.", Whittaker Chambers. Mr. Chambers was a brilliant man. Hard-working, genuinely concerned about the welfare of his fellows, and trying to do good, he became a Communist. He worked hard for the Party until its lies became too much for his innate sense of goodness. After a time, he became a Christian. As such, he knew that he had to tell the truth. He did so, naming many Communists with whom he had worked who labored to overthrow the government and replace it with Communism. He was universally reviled by that time's Culture of Death for having turned from darkness to light, from lies to truth, and from atheism to belief. It's difficult to leave behind the false gods of our youth and turn to God. It's hard for those of us who once worshipped idols to turn to any belief that despises such worship. The Old Testament, which Catholic Fundamentalists see as the First Programming Log, is replete with prophets who were despised for telling people to turn to and obey God. They were ignored, mocked, imprisoned, tortured, and killed. The New Testament is even farther from conventional reality than the Old. When it tells us to "love your neighbor, do good to them that hurt you.", it describes the entrance to a new Kingdom, one in which the entities that God and men have programmed are not nearly as important as He Who lovingly programmed all that there is in all of the systems that there are. As we turn toward Him, we leave the programmed entities behind. The other side hates that, not because they know we are wrong, but because they know we are right. When we believe, think, and act as if The Programmer is more important than all that He and His creatures have programmed, we make their own priorities of possessions and power less respectable.
Monday, October 13, 2008 While it’s popular for many Bush-haters to call him names and blame him for everything, we can see that the real problems began when the Democrats took over Congress and their natural bitterness and deep hatred of people and prosperity shriveled up the economy. Interesting chart follows that shows how much it costs us when people vote for Democrats in Congress. If they control both the Executive and the Legislative, the numbers on these charts will double or triple, and so will the lies that they’ll tell saying it’s for “our own good”: (From The American Digest) My fellow Americans, ask yourself this one question...... are you better off than you were just two years ago? George Bush has been in office for 7½ years. The first six the economy was fine. In spite of the mid-2000 Clinton recession, it was even resilient enough to rebound after 9/11. A little over one year ago: 1. Consumer confidence stood at a 2½ year high; But Americans wanted change! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress and yes -- we got CHANGE all right. In the past year: 1. Consumer confidence has plummeted; Yes, in 2006, America voted for change -- and we sure got it! Remember, the President has no control over any of these issues - only Congress. And what has Congress done in the last two years? Absolutely nothing! They certainly haven't improved the situation. They've made it much worse.
Tuesday, October 14, 2008 Anger never helps. We have seen many rallies at which taxpayers were angry at what was being done to them by the various elites. "The media" is frequently blamed. Those who blame "the media" simply do not understand that "the media" is not an independent organism that has gone wrong. It is part and parcel of the Culture of Death. From the earliest governments, media has existed to support either the existing government or groups who want to take over, destroy, or replace that government. A trillion dollars would build fifty new nuclear reactors. That would reduce America's cash outflows to oil-producing countries by six hundred billion dollars a year. Only Mr. McCain has proposed building new nuclear reactors. He wants America to be prosperous the only way that any country can be prosperous, efficient production. Instead of spending a trillion dollars on fifty new nuclear reactors, our government just gave a trillion dollars to a lot of failed banks. That won't make things better, but a trillion spent on fifty new reactors would.
Wednesday, October 15, 2008 The idol, "Less for you ", has an evil twin, "More for me ". Those who are pro-life and pro-prosperity want everyone to have more of everything. Those on the other side want fewer lives and less for those who are living. Their continual cry for "Less" rarely extends to their own means of housing, transportation, salaries, and benefits. At the same time they're saying "Less for you.", they are saying, "There must be More for me and those like me." One is reminded of the old "Tea for Two" ditty with new words. "Less for you, And More for me. And that's the way it ought to be." So, their idol has an obvious flaw, hypocrisy. It does little good to point this out to them. They already know. History tells us that as they get more, others will rise to take it away from them. While this process continues, the best thing for us to do is avoid that two-faced, soul-destroying hypocrisy. In a way, it is the perpetual Mark of the Beast. It's far better to live our lives as close to God and His Commandments as we can.
Thursday, October 16, 2008 Is the Mark of the Beast closer than we think? The Book of Revelations makes it clear that no one who is "marked with the Sign of the Beast" is allowed into Heaven. The "mark" either appears on the forehead or on the hand. The difficulty is that no recent governments seem to have actually branded, tattooed, or put RFID chips in or on their subjects' hands and foreheads. That Book was written for believers of every generation. So, we may assume that the Mark of the Beast is not necessarily something that is put upon people's hands or foreheads, but is something that occurs when they make the "deal with the Beast" that allows them to trade within its empire. That way, we can see that the Mark applies to everyone who's willing to get it in every time and place. There are obvious markings on foreheads and hands that occur with wrinkle patterns. We all know of "palm readers" who profess to tell a person's future by the various "life lines" and "love lines" that are on every human palm. It is not unreasonable to conjecture that a hateful, slothful, grasping person may have different lines on, or in, their palms than a kind, loving, open-handed person. Similarly, it is not irrational to wonder if forehead lines and wrinkles indicate where thoughts are taking place in the mind. Frequently repeated thoughts may have themselves written on the forehead, where an astute observer may see and analyze them. If we, for instance, right here and now, try to make our face appear to be deep in thought or analysis, we may feel, or see in a mirror, one or more vertical furrows above the sides of our noses reaching upward into our forehead. On the other hand, if we make ourselves look surprised, we probably are aware that horizontal lines appear above our eyebrows. Speaking of eyebrows, when we look superior, we often arch one eyebrow, raising it upward. That practice, to those who make a practice of looking superior, may result in an arc-shaped wrinkle above one eye. When the best actors feel an emotion, they are smart enough to remember what their forehead looks like when they feel it, and apply that to whatever scene they're in.The best actors practice making wrinkles appear on their foreheads to let their audiences know what they are thinking. Bad actors, on the other hand, aren't aware of that, and tend to lose their audience. One may consider the possibility that there are other, smaller wrinkles on our hands and foreheads that indicate where our thoughts have been spending time. At final Judgment, it may only take a glance from our Judge to see just what kind of person we are. II One group of people, faithful Moslems, do have marks, called zabibas, on their foreheads. They are caused by frequent contact with their foreheads with their prayer rugs. Many commentators have said the Second Beast, which has two horns, represents the Moslem religion/Mohammed and the divisions of the that religion into Sunni and Shiite.
Friday, October 17, 2008 Illuminating quotes. It is difficult, if not impossible, to understand politics and government without considering an H.L. Mencken quote: "The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." Looking at "problems" like Global Warming, The Ozone Hole, Global Freezing, and the hundreds of "scary things" that we are told about every day, and understanding that they are "imaginary hobgoblins" designed to increase the power of others over us, helps us see that those who propagate them fall into those described by Mark Twain: "It's hard to get a man to see the truth about something if his job depends on not understanding it." Few people are willing to give up a soft, cushy job for the truth, and unemployment is what happens to anyone who does dare to tell the truth about any of the "imaginary hobgoblins" that is the basis for his, or his superiors' job. We may relate careers based on lies to The Book of Revelations. When we do, it's hard not to conclude that "The Mark of the Beast" is written in the souls of those who tell lies for money. In every generation, they are among those "branded with The Mark of the Beast". We are assured that those who have accepted the brand will not be allowed into Heaven.

If the story is true, it looks as if two tentacles of the Culture of Death have intertwined, with Communists and Islamic terrorists working together to wipe out a large part of Israel. The local tentacle of the Culture of Death, the Western Media, have braided themselves within, keeping quiet about it. Interestingly, the Muslim/Communist attack would have killed more Muslims in the area than anyone else. That's fine with the Culture of Death.

Tuesday, October 21, 2008 Revelations, The Book of. Revelations is the last, and most complicated Book of the Bible. As Catholic Fundamentalists study it, some conclude that it is several Books in one. First, it is a description of what will happen when the appointed times come. Evil comes and goes and comes and goes. People are either drawn to it, or they resist it all the way to the end of time. Second, it seems to describe every period of history in which every reader lives. There are always powerful tyrants doing the work of the dragon, just as there are always a faithful few who oppose them. Third, some of us may see descriptions of our own lives and struggles within Revelations. As the Bible says to us, "Ye are as kings.", so, we may conjecture, we are each like a little universe. Each of us is an encapsulation of our culture and our ancestors, and we make very serious and profound choices as we navigate from birth to death. As we operate within our own "universe", we are individually tempted by the dragon, the first beast and the second as our earthly life moves toward its end. Hopefully, we will all avoid accepting any mark with which he tries to brand us as his own.
Wednesday, October 22, 2008 The "horns" of the beast. Catholic Fundamentalists take Scripture passages literally to see what meaning they have in their basic words. When we do that with the beast of Revelations, we find something interesting. The beast has seven heads and ten horns. Most interpreters translate "horns" as symbols of power like the horns of a rhinoceros or bull. Some show the beast as something like a triceratops. The paintings that try to portray The Beast usually show those kinds of horns. Others look at the "horns" as manifestations of political power, armies, navies, air forces, and weapons with which the beast destroys all those it can. When we visualize the "horns" as actual horns, like trumpets, we may find a whole new vision of the beast appearing in our minds. In this view, each horn blasts out the wonders of its own lie, praising its kind of idol to worship. The "horns" are there to broadcast lies and temptations to encourage souls to travel down broad, well-worn paths by which they may be led to destruction.
Thursday, October 23, 2008 More on the head and horns of the beast. Since the beast has seven heads and ten horns, most assume that at least one head must have more than one horn. We may consider the obvious connection between the seven heads and the seven deadly sins. There is one head for Pride, Envy, Greed, Gluttony, Anger, Lust, and Sloth. What are the ten horns? Each is is a spiritual broadcaster tuned to be the moral/spiritual reverse of one of the Ten Commandments. The horns may not be attached to the heads. Catholic Fundamentalists think that the horns (if we picture them crudely with an earthly counterpart) may move from head to head like the holes of a harmonica, each playing a different set of disconcerting notes for the triumph of Pride, Envy, Greed, Gluttony, Anger, Lust, and Sloth. Or, the horns may be fixed, carried about on some sort of a bracket similar to that used by a one-man band. The heads move to whichever horn they need to play whatever notes are needed to draw a soul into disobedience and idol worship. We are tempted into sin by having our desire for a feeling, whether of ownership, victory, satiation, etc., to grow to the point that it overwhelms our ability to obey the Commandment that we are led to violate. For instance, if we find that a neighbor has something we want so badly that we decide to steal it from him, the beast's head for Envy plays seductively on the horn with the spiritual frequency designed to undermine and erase the importance and validity of "Thou Shalt Not Steal". The Commandments were written in stone. In the oppositeness that is thereby symbolized, the justifications for disobeying them are written in wavelengths in the air, through which the tempting tunes are spread to overwhelm the desire to obey He Who programmed all. The notes and rhythms are designed to, within the mind, neutralize and then reverse the urge to obey. Prayer will neutralize the spiritual wavelengths that are broadcast with the intention of leading us into sin.

When plastics need to be joined together, they are often put under the "horn" of a broadcasting apparatus that directs sound wavelengths at the plastic. As a result, the two plastic pieces are joined together. The "horn" is able to actually connect the pieces by making the molecules on their surfaces join together and become one part. Similarly, the "horns" of the beast direct spiritual wavelengths toward souls, trying to attach them inextricably to sin. Those who work with various forms of plastics know that the frequency of the horn must be carefully calibrated and changed when different types of plastics must be joined. From this, and the fact that there are Ten Commandments, it is possible to assume that there are ten types of sin. Each of the beast's ten horns is designed to broadcast to one type of sin, joining it to the targeted soul.
In an orchestra, we know that horns differ from, say, drums, because horns are directional. They transmit wavelengths in specific directions. Lasers and masers are the optical equivalents of a trumpet. Basically, they are "horns" that direct light. They are so precise that they can send pinpoint beams of light directly toward a target. Therefore, we may assume that the horns of the beast not only transmit sounds, but also, transmit other, more powerful, spiritual wavelengths. Right at this very moment, we know that if we desire to think about a sin, the discordant tunes of desire and justification will immediately come flooding into our mind. From that, we understand that the horns of the beast also broadcast over wide areas, providing an ocean of world-wide "elevator music". All human beings going through that ocean, the way fish go through water and birds through air, can choose to tune in at any time. When we do so, other, more precise horns are quickly directed toward us, encouraging us to not only listen, but also, dance to the music of the other side. The Catholic admonition to "avoid the near occasion of sin" is designed to keep us away from the spiritual wavelengths and rhythms that will lead our souls down the broad paths to destruction.
Friday, October 24, 2008 The Spiritual Bell Curve.
When we think of the final resting place of a truly holy soul, like that of St. Francis, we can picture it over in the far right hand corner of the bell curce. All the less holy souls are to the left of his. The very worst souls that ever lived may be pictured far off on the lower left. Dante said that the three "worst" souls who ever lived were Brutus, Judas, and Mohammed. They will spend eternity, he wrote, in the very mouth of the devil, gnawed on ravenously forever, so we have but to imagine an angry, slavering mouth over there, in the far left corner of the spiritual bell curve, chomping away. Vertically, we may think of the center line dividing the saved souls from the perpetually accursed. Hell is on the left, Heaven on the right.The rewards and punishments increase in intensity as one goes downward toward the bottom. If this can be used to help get our own minds to picture the way our souls will spend eternity, we may work harder to get them there. There are Scriptural reasons for considering the bell curve as a way to "grade" souls. For instance: "Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.", Those two indications that half of the souls may be saved are not conclusive, but they are indicative. The important thing to remember when considering such possibilities as these is not that our tentative conclusions about them are necessarily right, but that we cannot prove that they are wrong. As we search for better ways to describe spiritual realities, such things as the "spiritual bell curve" help to get our minds more used to thinking about such things, and using familiar tools to help us do so more effectively. It is a step in the right direction.

The little plastic drum holds ten grams of nuclear waste. It is the amount of residue produced by providing cheap, clean nuclear power to a family for one year with a nuclear reactor. Nuclear power can be profitably delivered to the home for less than a nickel per kilowatt hour. In a hundred years, natural decay will reduce the contents of that tiny drum to one tenth of that which is in it now. But, the worshippers of "Less" don't care. They're building inefficient, unreliable, expensive windmills, biofuel plants, and solar panels as if there's no tomorrow. Windmills deliver electricity for about $1.20/kwh. So, if all your household power came from the wind, your power bill would go up twenty four times, as long as the wind was blowing. The people getting grants, subsidies, and funding don't care. The last thing they want is nuclear power. Replacing nuclear power with wind power is like replacing a pick-up truck with a twenty-mule team wagon.
Tuesday, October 28, 2008 Living with lies. As we get older, we become more aware of how many people embrace lies for personal gain. Most of the "news" that we see is merely an affirmation of the most popular and profitable lies. Announcements, for instance, of the various perils that Global Warming is about to unleash upon us are in every single media outlet. These are all lesser lies that operate under the umbrella of the bigger lie in the same way that specific sins all serve the greater cause of death. We are introduced to lies very early in our lives. In pre-kindergarten, we learn that we should be taken from our families and herded together to begin a long process in which we absorb the vast lies that governments want us to make a part of our thinking. When we get out of "school", our minds are packed full of lies. This process is widely heralded, and is called "education". More exalted lies are told during the period of "higher education". At some point, we become aware that there is another realm in which truth is king. If we're lucky, we learn about it when we are young, and someone who loves us tells us, "Thou shalt not bear false witness." If we do not bear false witness, we are automatically at odds with those who do bear false witness. The more they enrich themselves by bearing false witness, the more they hate the idea that they should not do what is the foundation of their earthly well-being.
Wednesday, October 29, 2008 Fatal disconnect. The relationship between lies and death is horribly obvious when we discuss abortion with those who support pro-abortion candidates. Most who support such people simply do not look at unborn babies as unborn babies. "It's just a mass of tissue.", "It's not really a baby.", and "A woman has a right to control her own body." are all repeated by those who really don't want to think about the fact that an unborn child is killed in every abortion, and that over 40,000,000 of our youngest and most helpless neighbors have been destroyed.
We need to remember what's being done to whom. We need to drive the kind of thinking that justifies this destruction from our minds. It helps to consider pictures like this. If we are sensitive, we recoil in horror from what the abortionists' forceps are doing every day while we go about our business. Being in favor of abortion indicates a hardening of the heart, a dulling of the imagination, a glorification of insensitivity. When we consider a picture like the one above, and we ask God for guidance, we will be led back along the straight and narrow path that leads to salvation. Those who steadfastly refuse to do so are sunk so far into the Culture of Death that it will take a miracle to soften their hearts. The Book of Revelations makes it clear that at Judgment, the individual books of our life are opened. We can assume that every one of our thoughts, words, and deeds will be judged. While we are still on earth, we still have time to ask the Judge for mercy. Until the very second that our soul leaves our body, we have the power to ask that Judge for the mercy that He has promised. It is not intelligent to waste any time endlessly considering this. Both the rewards and the punishments we face are very, very great, and both are affected by the amount of quibbling we do when faced with reality.
Thursday, October 30, 2008 Remembering past confusion in the "house divided". Before becoming a Roman Catholic, I was in a conventional, Mainline Protestant denomination. Thirty or so years ago, I read about SWAPO, which stood for the SouthWest Africa People's Organization. They were a Communist group whose armed forces were directed to destabilize Southwest Africa. Among their marching orders was a directive to kill as many Christian missionaries as possible. That way, there would be no hospitals, schools, or other institutions to which anyone could turn for help. As I got involved in my local church, I found that our congregation was required to send money to our denomination's headquarters. There, it was pooled with similar monies from thousands of other individual churches. Our headquarters, in turn, made frequent donations to the World Council of Churches. The WCC was proud, I discovered, of their donations to SWAPO. Frequently, our Sunday services would include talks by missionaries, some of whom were working in Southwest Africa. We were always encouraged to support those missionaries. We all knew, if only subconsciously, that part of the money we donated to our local church each week went to the church headquarters. We did not know that they sent part of it to the World Council of Churches. None of us knew that they, in turn, were proud to pass on some of that money to SWAPO. They used part of that money to buy bullets with which to shoot missionaries. About the time I understood this, I realized Who had said "A house divided cannot stand.", and began the journey to Roman Catholicism. One gift that the Roman Catholic Church bestows is that I no longer have to worry about my donations being used to destroy my neighbors.
Friday, October 31, 2008 More on "the house divided". When I discovered that our local church, as described in yesterday's column, had some of the money donated to it being used to destroy Christian missionaries, some of whom we, ourselves supported, I explained what I'd found to others in the congregation. First, I told the minister what was going on, and showed him the newspaper and magazine articles that reported the facts. The minister said: "I understand your concerns, and I agree with them. It is wrong to give money to organizations whose armed forces are told to kill our missionaries. But, there's nothing that I can do about it." The handful of others with whom I reviewed this made comments that were part of a pattern: "What they're doing is not right, but there are a lot of good people in the church." "This is wrong, but I have a lot of friends here." "God will protect His own." I had run into the proverbial brick wall. No one wanted to even write a letter complaining about it to the regional or national headquarters of our denomination. No one minded that by supporting that local church, they were simultaneously giving money both to missionaries and those who were paid to murder them. Not one Protestant would protest, making Catholicism a great relief. |
