Some month's columns begin with the "why" of Catholic Fundamentalism.
A vast cohort of the damned works to make people believe that God, if He exists at all, is largely irrelevant. They began this phase of the battle with geology and what they think of as a "fossil record". They continued with a war for the acceptance of evolution. They have been largely successful.
Catholic Fundamentalists understand two things:
First, the words used to describe our faith are largely from the Iron Age. Therefore, they do not accurately define God's power and actions with words we're used to using. We look at God as The Unprogrammed Programmer. Just as human programmers can program a two-dimensional movie that looks real, God can program an entire universe that many accept as their ultimate reality, blind to the power of The Programmer.
Second, we understand that the Catholic idea of free will is vitally important to understanding creation. We realize that God had to have programmed every structure and process there is, whether discovered or not, in order to provide each person in each age with free will.
When we think of God as The Unprogrammed Programmer we realize that among His characteristics is a great love for His most complicated creatures, human beings with free will. In the six days described by Genesis, The Unprogrammed Programmer programmed and compiled all the particles and energy flows that there would ever be in order to provide generations of human beings with everything they would need to choose to believe in Him, or not.
When Catholic Fundamentalists see, for instance, layers of rock, we understand that He made those layers of rock, either programming them in place or programming processes that would lay them in place, as during The Flood. Those with more limited vision see the same things, and assume that God did not need to be part of that process. Then, they assume that, since God was not necessary, that He doesn't exist.
From that, they derive reasons to ignore His commandments and teachings. It makes them happy, for a while.

Hating turns inward.
On the surface, those who hate seem to direct their emotions outwardly. Hearing "I hate this, I hate that, I hate them." may lead us to believe that those who hate direct that emotion toward other people and things. On reflection, we soon realize that self-hating is at the root of the outwardly-directed hate that surrounds us. Haters within every race and religion have one common characteristic; they tend to not hate other haters.
Self-hating white people will often embrace insane policies that hurt them. Environmentally active white people "hate nuclear power", ignoring the fact that it is clean, cheap, and reliable. They "hate plastic bags", the cheapest way ever devised to carry things. They "hate DDT", ignoring the fact that it saves millions from painful, crippling disease and death. They hate and hate and hate.
One or two percent of the population choose to embrace various forms of life-shortening behavior. They frequently take to the streets, publicly focusing their hate against those who stand in their way. Few things are more inexplicable than militant homosexuals attacking Baptists, Mormons, and Catholics who want them to change their behavior and live longer, while they ignore the Moslems who hate them, and want to kill every single one of "the sons of Lot".
Self-hating Jewish people stand idly by while Arabs plot the destruction of Israel with ever less fear of retaliation. Self-hating Catholics criticize every teaching of The Church, undermining belief in the only thing on earth that can bring them closer to love and salvation. Self-hating Protestants encourage the weakening of their denominational ties to Scriptural obedience. Self-hating people are everywhere, hating all but their fellow haters.
What do we do? We are required to love our neighbors and do good to them that hurt us. The only thing that can reverse the "hate polarity" is love.

Name-calling.
Name-calling is an indication of anger. The internet lets us see outpourings of vituperation that are astonishing. Mostly on leftist sites, name-calling has become a contest as haters try to outdo each other in insulting people with whom they disagree. The sheer childishness of such insults is believed, by haters, to be a sign of their own sophistication. On broadcasts dominated by haters, anyone defending any existing process or institution is a target of scorn.
At first, one would think that crimes like robbery indicate an angrier person than name-callers, but that may not be the case. Most robbers at least have some sort of a goal, and while their means of accomplishing that goal, usually getting money for drugs, is as bad as their goal, at least they're doing something.
Name calling does no good. It does nothing to get at the root of the anger, which is spiritual in nature. As one calls names, more anger enters. Catholic Fundamentalists believe that Anger comes from evil spirits, demons, imps, and other beings that use sin to enter and manipulate human minds.
Most name-calling is directed toward people who accomplish things. As always, The Programmer provides lots of people who are called names, if only to let the rest of us identify who's most full of hate. When President Bush, for instance, has terrorists locked up in Guantanamo, he is accused of "heartless illegalities" and "crimes against humanity". When Mr. Obama does the same thing, not a word of complaint is heard. From that we learn the name-callers are not interested in what is done as much as who is doing it.
As we understand that better, we grow in understanding of the fact that name-calling, like foam on a dog's mouth, is an indication of a personality from which it is better to keep one's distance.

Haters need someone to hate.
Leaders of the other side use haters as generals use infantry, to attack their enemies. Haters are easily directed to focus their considerable anger on targets their leaders feel are ripe for exploitation. To give teeth to their largely useless rants, the best haters are encouraged to move beyond name calling, into "direct action".
We see perfect examples of this in the environmental movement. Enviro-haters begin by calling big corporations names. This grows tiresome, and big corporations can usually pay environmental leaders to send their troops to harass competitors. So, large, identifiable groups, like suburbanites, are attacked. Having a nice house in the suburbs makes people part of "Urban sprawl", a vicious attack on "nature".
Some of the most hate-filled can be easily convinced to burn down houses under construction. They can be led to think it's their "duty" to start grass and forest fires to "wipe out urban sprawl" and "teach those suburbanites a lesson".
It is rare for those under attack to respond. Those called names rarely respond by name calling. Those whose properties are torched rarely respond by burning down the properties of others.
If one were to provide a hater some form of lucrative employment, many believe that the hater would stop hating. There may be some truth to that, but there aren't enough jobs in the world that pay as much as most haters think they're worth.

Mr. Obama's speech to Moslems. Some good. Some, not so much.
"As a student of history, (from what follows, not an exceptionally good student.) I also know civilization's debt to Islam. It was Islam -- at places like Al-Azhar -- that carried the light of learning through so many centuries, paving the way for Europe's Renaissance and Enlightenment. (Not so much learning, but stopping learning at every turn, like the intentional burning of the huge, ancient library at Alexandria that contained most of the wisdom produced from ancient Sumeria, Babylon, Greece, and Rome to the time of its tragic destruction. Would they "pave the way for enlightenment" by doing the same thing to the Library of Congress, the British Museum, the Louvre, and any other cultural repository whose contents they found to be disagreeable?) It was innovation in Muslim communities -- (applause) -- it was innovation in Muslim communities that developed the order of algebra (Actually, the Babylonians invented algebra, which was later improved by Greeks. "In the 16th century there were great advances in technique . . . achievements called by Boyer "perhaps the greatest contribution to algebra since the Babylonians learned to solve quadratic equations almost four millennia earlier." about three thousand years prior to Mohammed.) ; our magnetic compass ("The first person recorded to have used the compass as a navigational aid was Zheng He (1371-1435), from the Yunnan province in China, who made seven ocean voyages between 1405 and 1433."); our mastery of pens and printing ("The Chinese invented and perfected 'Indian Ink'. . . . The ink invented by the Chinese philosopher, Tien-Lcheu (2697 B.C.), became common by the year 1200 B.C." That's one thousand, eight hundred years before Mohammed. The Egyptians, of course, invented papyrus a thousand or so years before that, along with some medium with which to write on it.); our understanding of how disease spreads and how it can be healed. (Some of us thought that antibiotics, x-rays, MRIs, gene therapy, anesthesia, organ transplants, radiation therapy, ambulances, and hospitals were invented in much freer countries that admired medical innovation. In fact, Hippocrates, around 400 B.C. described diseases and cures for them.)
Islamic culture has given us majestic arches and soaring spires (Arches, of course, were invented in Mesopotamia, later improved by the Romans, six or eight centuries before the Moslems. One of the oldest arches, a city gate at Ashkleon, was built in the Bronze Age. The "soaring spires" are minarets from which announcements are made to force people to go and pray five times a day, hardly an expression of religious freedom.); timeless poetry and cherished music (Homer's poetry was somewhat more "timeless", having been written far, far earlier, and the Egyptians had a musical tradition of several thousand years.); elegant calligraphy (Other cultures were able to be far more productive by inventing printing presses, typewriters, linotype machies, ink-jet printers, dot-matrix printers, offset presses, and word processers.) and places of peaceful contemplation (People were forced to attend these "places of peaceful contemplation" by armed constabularies while their homes and businesses could be "inspected".). And throughout history, Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality. (Applause.) (It would be nice to have been given even one instance of this, from the time of murdering of neighboring peoples at the beginning to the looting of Rome in the 800s to the Armenian genocide a hundred years ago and continuing to today's rocket attacks on Jewish homes and towns and firebombings in European cities. Strangely overlooked is the virtual enslavement, disenfranchisement, loss of property, limbs, and life of those who wanted to worship differently in countries taken over by one form of Jihad or another. In fact, in many of their countries, slavery was only outlawed in the past fifty years, and is still practiced by those who know the laws against it are not enforced.)
I also know that Islam has always been a part of America's story. (An especially noticeable part when they attack us, whether with pirates two hundred years ago, or by airborne terrorists more recently.) The first nation to recognize my country was Morocco. In signing the Treaty of Tripoli in 1796, our second President, John Adams, wrote, "The United States has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Muslims." (That early attempt at appeasement failed to make Moslem pirates stop attacking our ships, seizing our sailors, and selling those whom they didn't execute into the most brutal slavery on earth.) And since our founding, American Muslims have enriched the United States. They have fought in our wars (on which side?), they have served in our government (given preferential treatment in hiring?) , they have stood for civil rights (whose?), they have started businesses (were they denied the freedom to start businesses in their own countries?), they have taught at our universities (again, preferential hiring?), they've excelled in our sports arenas, they've won Nobel Prizes (Did Rushdie win a Nobel? That author spends the rest of his life hiding from those who want to execute him for writing things they didn't like.), built our tallest building (knocked down both the second and third tallest), and lit the Olympic Torch. (And, they continue meting out the harshest possible treatment to wives, sisters, and daughters for "disobeying", without one word of protest from the White House.)
And when the first Muslim American was recently elected to Congress, he took the oath to defend our Constitution using the same Holy Koran that one of our Founding Fathers -- Thomas Jefferson -- kept in his personal library. (Applause.) (It was Jefferson who, when Adams's negotiations failed, studied the Koran to help understand their religion. When he did, he realized he had no choice but to send the U.S. Navy "to the shores of Tripoli", as the Marine Hymn proudly recalls, to protect American lives and property.)
To be sure, there were good paragraphs in the speech, but, in this section, it was difficult not to be reminded of Neville Chamberlain congratulating the High Command for having done such wonderful work on the autobahns. The best thing that Moslems have done recently, in both 1992 and 1994, was to join with Pope John Paul II to fight against the U.N. plans to promote abortion and harmful birth control drugs (taken off the American/European markets for causing serious medical problems) in the third world. The fact that Moslems want to keep unborn people alive is definitely in their favor, and could help establish common ground with pro-life people who, like the Pope, see the Culture of Death as a deadlier enemy to all who choose life.

Reasons to not solve problems.
Few of us are ever given problems that we can't solve, either as individuals, families, or nations. The first step in solving a problem is to realize that it can be solved. If we understand that He love us, we may ask God to help, or request a Saint or Angel to intercede to help us find the best solution.
There are four basic steps to solving a problem. The first is to define it. Then, we come up with solutions. After that, we pick the best solution. Then, we implement it.
Most sane, healthy-thinking people treat problems in some similar way. On the other hand, there are those who do not want problems to be solved. For coal mine owners, nuclear power is not the solution for an energy shortage. For overseas oil producers, American oil wells are not the solution for high gas prices.
Such people cannot simply say, "My biggest problem is to maintain my existing cash flow." and want high energy costs to be reduced. Instead, they say, "The biggest problem is human safety. We must not do anything to threaten the globe. Global warming is very important, and so is the safe disposal of nuclear waste."
Huge media empires exist to help rich people solve their problems by convincing people they have a "higher duty" to keep better solutions from being implemented. To do this "bigger problems" are invented to keep the smaller problems from being solved. This is called "being progressive" by those whose cash flows are helped by the paralysis introduced by frauds like Global Warming and "obesity" and are labeled "Imaginary Problems" by those with more understanding.
Individuals, families, and nations collapse because they are institutionally so paralyzed by bribes and propaganda that they cannot solve their real problems.

Fear, anger, hate, and death, the Four Horsemen.
Most of us have better lives because Thomas Edison invented so many wonderful things we use every day. We have become dependent on his inventions and others that stem from them. On the other hand, some resent such genius. They say that we should "go back to a simpler time".
Since there is no way to feed, house, transport, and medically care for growing populations without new Edisons, fearful souls, too unhinged by anger to see the possibility of progress, have drawn the only conclusion they can: "There are too many people. Populations must be reduced." Interestingly, none of these people want to solve the "most serious problem of all" by being part of the solution. It is always others who must die.
That fact may contain the beginning of their own salvation. When we understand that the bitter want their Imaginary Problems to be solved by the death of others as they maintain their own lives, we can understand that there is some bit of love for life within them.
We may point out that those who think there are too many people have two options. They must either kill others or themselves. We'd hate to see anyone die before they begin to work on saving themselves.
Asking those who want to see population reduction, "If you think overpopulation is a truly important problem, why not practice what you preach?" may make them angrier. Pointing out that "If you believe in what you do not do, are you better or worse than those you think should die?"
At least Jim Jones drank his own Kool-Aid.

Triangulation.
Triangulation is a fancy word that means "Let's you and him fight." The Clintons excelled at it, dividing a group into competing segments and using them to weaken each other. The biggest triangulations concern nations.
We saw ancient Persians bribe Spartans and Athenian politicians, playing "Let's you and him fight." Long before that, Genesis records the "four kings against five". Judah, long a pawn between Assyria and Egyptians, could survive only without getting involved in pleas from both Empires to "let's you and him fight". When foreign entanglements separated them from God, they were destroyed.
Today, there are fewer main players on the international stage. Still the richest is the United States. It is divided between an angry, bitter, life-hating left and a similar sized group of more Christian-thinking people.
Europe, largely controlled by the envious, is divided between remnants of the well-adjusted, the usual horde of angry, "enlightened" leftists, and a rapidly growing, incredibly loyal Moslem minority. This last group, with easy access to endless flows of petrodollars, has subverted most elections with generous campaign contributions.
The Moslem States stretch across North Africa, control the West and Northwest corners of the Mediterranean, and extend past Afghanistan and the Pakistans to Indonesia. Their political and doctrinal differences are overwhelmed by their common hatred of, and desire to loot, the rest of the world.
India is so large it is its own group, fragmented among Hindus, Moslems, leftists, a huge number of poor, a small number of very rich, and a growing center that espouses more political and economic freedom.
Even larger, China has a powerful state apparatus with purportedly freer economic subsidiaries. While apparent increases in freedom exist, those over there say "Not so much."
South America is dominated by Brazil, whose growing economy is the envy of all the South American countries outside of Chile. Hard core leftists dominate Argentina and an even more hostile Communist regime controls Venezuela.
Africa used to have two wealthy countries. Now, only South Africa remains, continually cannibalized by Marxists. Tiny, wealthy elites control the rest of the continent South of the Sahara. They are pawns of the various "extractor interests" who plunder the nations mineral reserves.
Low birth rates in Australia and New Zealand keep those countries on the margins. With Canada, and a few other places, they are the sole, surviving English speaking remnants of the British Empire.
All the world's populations and people are divided into two groups. One group loves their neighbors. The other does not. The former group obeys The Programming Instructions enough to get into Heaven. The other does not.
A most disordered triangulation:
In Moslem countries, homosexuals are hunted down and murdered. In the United States, the President is encouraging more Moslem immigration. Despite what has happened, and is promised to happen to as many more as possible, American homosexuals support this President, even as he brings in more and more of those sworn to exterminate them. Even more bizarre, they reviled the previous President, who stood up to those who believed they had a religious mandate to kill all those whom they call "the sons of Lot".

Our own programs.
Catholic Fundamentalism believes that each of our souls is a unique, immortal programming unit, a far smaller version of The Programmer, Himself. Our soul was provided to us by The Unprogrammed Programmer and His many sub-programmers. We see our soul, created at the moment of conception, as the motivating cause of all the sub-programs that are programmed to be downloaded from various minerals and made into our mind and body.
The soul is able to utilize the various genetic components with which our own Guardian Angel is able to program pretty much all that we will be. He picks out blue, green, or brown eyes, our fingerprints, height, weight, intellectual abilities, and appearance.
St. Threse said that "souls are as different as faces", and we project from that the reasons for our individual differences which are built around our soul, the first thing created at our conception. Most all of us have hand programs, foot programs, sensory programs, digestive programs, circulatory programs, reproductive programs, skin programs, muscle programs, skeletal programs, chemical-production programs, etc. that are the basic human programs. They have much in common with other programs of other programmed creatures, which gives evolutionists and other God-deniers the reasons they need to choose not to believe in Him.
We, on the other hand, see the same programs as proof of His economy and efficiency. He is able to provide individual difference in every member of every species while utilizing a "base program" for each necessary structure and process.
Each of us automatically takes care of our own programs. We don't, for instance, want to get our hand program caught in a car door. Nor do we want to hit our thumb program with the human "hammer program" when driving a nail.

Each of our sub-programs seamlessly interface.
When we type, our finger programs move across the keyboard. All the necessary muscle programs contract and relax, pulling against each other in a binary of their own as the characters appear on the paper or keyboard. As we think about it, we realize that the our mind is actually doing the typing, and that some portion of our being is responsible for getting us to type it in the first place.
It is not our mind, but our will that prompts us to the typewriter. "It's time for me to type today's column.", I think to myself. Then, my will gets my mind to think out what the column will cover. Then, it gets me in front of the keyboard. Then, it figures out what I'm going to say, and my fingers type it.
We are each like a tiny finger of God, chosen to be when and where we are to do His will. Just as we want our own fingers to type without making any errors, God wants us to do His will without making any mistakes.
Many people spend the bulk of their lives learning to interface better with programmed entities. Machinists interface with metals and machines, engineers with measurements and calculations, lawyers with laws, drivers with vehicles, parents with children, ballplayers with balls.
Most of us are not "stars" when it comes to interfacing, but we have become reasonably skilled at interfacing our own programswith other programmed entities. It's important that we choose to interface with The Programmer Who programmed all that there is. He has spent a lot of time and effort getting us where we are. Thinking, saying, and doing His will lets us make the fullest use of what He has programmed us to do.

Science is the study of His programs.
The monks of old understood that "Science is the handmaiden of theology." They understood that God created creation. They were right, but could only describe what they knew with Iron Age words. Today, we can understand that "God is the Unprogrammed Programmer. He can program 3-D particles the way we can program 2-D computer animations. He programmed everything to work seamlessly together to provide us, His beloved children, with free will."
No matter what parts of creation scientists study, they are examining His programs. Most scientists do not understand that, and if they did, they wouldn't admit it. They know that funding will be cut off to any who dare to admit that they are studying what God hath wrought.
Catholic Fundamentalists, as our medieval predecessors, know that The Unprogrammed Programmer used His ability to make and compile particles and energies into systems and beings for one reason: To give each human being free will. Each of us is free to choose to believe in a universe that's dozens of billions of years old, or to believe that we, His beloved Free Will Programs, live in a world He has programmed simply to give us the eternal joy of knowing Him.
He programmed the system in such a way that every single structure and process could be believed to have occurred by accident or by some unconscious design. On the other hand, we who believe in Him, and have at least a glimpse of His power to program and compile particles into systems and beings can understand that He made all there is simply to separate the believing sheep from apostate goats.
As always, the system is designed to separate the humble and obedient from vain and self-willed. We, the humble obedient can only bring the vain and self-willed to greater understanding by loving them. It's hard, but that's the way it is.
When The Church begins to explain God as The Unprogrammed Programmer rather than as the Prime Mover, and explains that Scripture is a record of His programming power in physical form, Her teaching will reach more souls. Since The Church has not done so, and neither have any professional Catholics, one may assume that God's barrier between the sheep and goats has been intentionally left more impassible than it might otherwise be.
It is, one might suppose, our job to let people know that God programmed particles, compiled them into systems and beings, and programmed us free-will creatures simply to get through the obstacle course of vanity and conventional reality to have the joy of being with Him forever.

Now that nearly everyone with an IQ above 110
has been able to figure out what a ridiculous fraud global warming is, more evidence is in. Hopefully, it's enough to move the numbers so that only people with an IQ less than 109 believe in Global Warming. Turns out that the sun, which is behind most weather patterns, is putting out less power than at any time for the past fifty years. The solar winds have only been measured that long. Following is a graph of the last 38 years of solar winds hitting the earth, and all the other planets:
This is serious enough that one hopes the Global Warmers are right. If the energy hitting the earth continues to drop as it has for the past thirty five years, especially since 1992, we could all end up as popsicles.
Monday, June 15, 2009
The above chart reminds one of Joseph and the Pharaoh.
An overlooked question: "Do those with the power to create and motivate the Global Warmers know the solar cycles and understand that the world has been cooling for the past ten years"? At the top levels, Warmers have access to real scientists. They know that solar output has been slowing, is slowing, and that future output is expected to drop even more, as it did during the frozen years of the Maunder Minimum.
Is that is the real reason they want to keep us from building nuclear reactors and coal generating systems? By pretending that Global Warming is a problem, they can stop new energy sources from coming on line. Then, they can overcharge us for the energy we'll need to stay alive as we go into the next ten or twenty freezing years of global cooling.
We know that government thrives on rationing. An early example of government rationing is recorded in the chapters following Genesis, 37, concerning Joseph and the Pharaoh. Once Pharaoh understood that there would be seven fat, prosperous years followed by seven lean years of famine, his Government, at Joseph's behest, bought up all the food supplies during the seven good years and stored the crops. When famine came, the government exchanged its food for land and ended up owning all of Egypt, except for some property left in the hands of religious organizations. That allowed large scale food production that made Egypt prosperous through Roman times, when its factory farms fed much of the Empire.
That's why a basic law of Catholic Fundamentalism is: "The greater the scarcity, the more power that rationing agencies have."
It is not unreasonable to assume that the Global Warmers have been using their positions to make energy production impossible. They are even tearing down dams whose generators produce cheap, clean power. As they reduce the ability of people to build reliable power sources, their control of energy becomes a matter of life and death.
We will be, globally, like the Egyptian peasants, forced to trade all we have for the power we need to stay alive. To think that this is unreasonable is to believe that our government officials are more concerned with our well-being than were Pharaoh's minions.

All is vanity and chasing the wind.
Uncontrolled vanity drives people toward power. When we pass the numerous election signs that festoon roadways before elections, we see the names of local people most driven to want public office. All of them insist that they sincerely want to make things "better". Mostly, they want to be important.
Once they get into public office, they find that most of the people with whom they deal are interested in contracts, favors, and jobs. Office holders are surrounded by people who continually ask them for money.
No matter how much money they get, they always want more. When we understand the similarities between sycophants and ravenous pigs, we have taken a step forward. We take another step forward when we find that those who ask for money must always have what can be made to seem a "good reason" to be given more money. "Good reasons" often include "educating the children", which increases funding for the largest of the frauds, public education. "Good reasons" also include "protecting the environment." "Environment" is often replaced with "future", often within the same plea.
"Fairness" is an ever-popular excuse for those who want more. The clever among them often string a lot of "good reasons" together to justify having even larger amounts of money shoveled their way. "It's only fair that all children be well-educated and live in a clean environment."
Most taxpayers accept such statements as their taxes go up. We might as well. There's not much else we can do.

Sports.
Some of the largest and earliest sports activities centered on the Greek Olympics. The various city-states would send their finest athletes to compete. Then, as now, the very best athletes were rewarded, and not just with laurel wreathes.
Roman sports centered on more warlike activities. Trained fighters tried to kill each other, or pretend to kill each other, while bloodthirsty crowds roared their approval in arenas all over the empire.
Today, sports are popular in elementary schools, high schools, colleges, and in professional leagues. Those who own sports teams are wealthy and politically connected, just as they were in Greece and Rome.
Mostly, sports direct attention to human contests. Some like to watch various ball-movers and compare them to others. Others like to see what techniques the coaches use. Others like to see the owners hire and fire their professional managers. In every city, broadcasts about these contests between teams and people are made daily on radio, television, and in the print media. Usually, the order is "News", then "Weather", then "Sports".
People spend a lot of time talking about sports, usually repeating talking points they've picked up in the various "Sports" news.
Politicians have always liked sports. Activities from racing cars and horses to moving various objects around on grass, clay, artificial, and ice surfaces keep people busy. Millions are led to keep themselves concentrated on unimportant things while their pockets are being picked.
At the highest levels, the most complicated "sport" is being played between those who want souls to go to Heaven and those who don't.

A sports oddity.
Few of us can remember many important moments in sports. As a child, I can remember seeing Don Larson pitch the first World Series no-hitter. But, I can't remember if "Larson" is spelled "Larson" or "Larsen". When I look at the comparative importance of that happening, it is at the very bottom of things I remember, memorable only because the adults in the room made such a big deal of it.
During the time the game took, I could have learned some geometric formulas and facts that would have helped me for the rest of my life. A biography of some famous person could have been read that would have influenced my thoughts and actions favorably for the rest of my life. Someone could have shown me how to measure, saw, and fasten small boards together to make a birdhouse. Instead, I spent two hours watching a man throw balls to another man while someone in between them tried to interrupt the flow in some specified way with a stick of wood.
When I multiply that one period in my life times the number of hours that billions of people have spent watching various sports activities, I am filled with wonder. Pyramids could have been built. Great walls erected. Canals dug.
Instead, we watch and watch and watch men and women, who are mostly millionaires, often working for other men and women who are billionaires, move things around at rapid rates of speed. Amazingly, people who do all that watching think they're doing something significant, and those of us who question are castigated as being "uncaring", "uninvolved", and far worse.
It is endlessly amazing that those millionaires whose billionaire "owners" (incredible that they're still called "owners", just as they were in Rome) will often parade through the streets after a great "victory" and hundreds of thousands of vastly poorer people will cheer them as they pass.

Monday's column provided a "Joseph/Pharaoh Theory" about the Global Warmers.
It is widely applicable.
Those who understand that Global Warming is one of the largest frauds ever established by the elite often make the mistake of thinking that those who perpetuate and expand the problem are simply wrong. In that innocence, it is believed that their minds can be changed by hearing facts.
This is dangerous innocence. Those who invent and perpetuate frauds know full well that they are participating in a fraud. The purpose of all fraudsters is gaining wealth and power. That kind of wealth and power can only be gained by inflicting poverty and death on their neighbors.
In Monday's column, we considered that those behind the Global Warming fraud are interested in gaining control of energy. Then, they can, like Joseph and the Pharaoh did with all the privately held land in Egypt, take advantage of the shortages they foresee and force people to trade the necessities of life for all the private property they once owned.
We see the same kind of lies told by those involved in medical frauds. We are endlessly regaled with the dangers of "obesity". We are all encouraged to lose weight. That is bad for our health and our longevity. People who gain a small amount of weight every year tend to live longer. Those who lose too much weight tend to die younger.
Those who profit from obesity know this, as do those who read sites like junkfoodscience.com. Endless studies of large populations confirm that weight is hereditary, and that those who lose weight are often damaged by the process.
Using the word "obese" to describe those of us with normal weights is part of that fraud, which is designed to shorten our lives while taking enjoyment from us, undermining the positive images we should have of ourselves, and, in short, doing a little bit more to make us all miserable and dead.
As we extrapolate from this, it is hard to avoid the conclusion that every operation controlled by the worldliest of the elites engage is designed to hurt. The vast Empire of Public Education serves not to educate, but to dumb down and destroy. The "National Health Care" held out as a carrot is designed to shorten lives by rationing medicines, thus reducing outflows of Social Security payments. The energy agencies work hard to keep people from the clean, cheap power provided by nuclear energy.
We are surrounded by those who want to rob and kill us. We can only understand and pray for them to gain the enlightenment they need to renounce the Culture of Death and come to life.

Keys.
The symbol of the Papacy is a pair of crossed keys, symbolizing Christ's giving Peter and the Disciples the power to open the gates of Heaven to the souls of the obedient faithful. When we visualize the soul as a living being, a live spark, and compare it to various particles and processes reflected in the world, we may help to see our way to obedience and salvation.
Just as a lightning bug is endangered by bats and birds, our soul can be weakened and destroyed by negative charges. When we picture a generator making a light bulb's filament produce light, we can see our own soul as a "spiritual filament" that takes energy from God and glows from the absorption and re-emitting of that energy. Like the light bulb, we can only do so if we are properly connected to the power source.
Some wavelengths of energy are visible light. Those wavelengths are able to go through our eyes and register in our minds. Similarly, some souls broadcast energy of a frequency, wavelength, and amplitude that lets God accept them into His presence. The real "key to Heaven" is a soul that reflects He Who programmed that soul. Those who choose not to reflect Him in their thoughts, words, and deeds cannot appear in Heaven any more than we can see the actual x-rays that zip through our bodies during examinations.
It only takes a moment to say, "God, forgive me my sins." and have our soul suddenly accessible to God. A vast horde of demons have been ordered to distract and justify keeping us from this alignment with God. The person who follows their many leads will spend eternity suffering both pain, a large part of which will come from the realization that the endless pain was caused by their own failure to choose to spend even a moment asking to have his or her soul's polarity changed to be like God's in order to be accepted by Him into Heaven forever.

God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Twenty dollars is not.
The Church used to quantify things and humbly seek to bring God's wisdom to those who wished to be saved. Theft was analyzed. Clearly, St. Thomas teaches that desperation can justify what would otherwise be theft. A starving man stealing a loaf of bread from one who can easily afford the loss to keep his family is only guilty of mortal sin in the minds of the most self-righteous.
In the mid 1800s, Catholic theologians suggested that a reasonable dividing line between mortal and venial sin in a theft that didn't involve dire necessity was twenty dollars. Some Protestant clergy, when presented this quantification, snickeringly asked: "What if a man stole twenty dollars and a half-cent? Would that half-cent make him so guilty that he would spend eternity in Hell?" Some do think that God will nit-pick when judging His children, and the denominations that thought so have either disappeared or are doing so at a rapid rate.
At that time, an ounce of gold sold for twenty dollars. Today, inflation makes an ounce of gold sell for about a thousand dollars, about two weeks' average pay. So, adjusted for inflation, we may reasonably see that today's theft may be considered to be mortal sin if it's over one thousand dollars, or taking two weeks from someone's life.
Question: If a drug addict steals nine thousand nine hundred and ninety nine dollars worth of goods and is only able to sell it for $999.00, is he guilty of mortal, rather than venial, sin? Answer: If his addiction caused him to do what he would not have done, his responsibility is diminished by the degree that his free will was diminished and the punishment of those who caused his addiction is increased by the appropriate amount.
Question: If the actual replacement cost of the goods is $999.00, is the thief guilty of mortal or venial sin? Answer: Venial.
Question: If the person who's been robbed inflates the value of his loss when making an insurance claim, is he, too, guilty of a mortal sin if he inflates the value by more than a thousand dollars? Has the thief, by his action, caused another to commit mortal sin, thereby putting him into a whole new category of punishment? Answer: Yes, but responsibility also extends to those who set the sin in motion. If public officials have made drugs illegal in order to increase their own power, and that action drove the price so high as to cause the addict to have to steal, which provided the insurance cheat with an opportunity he might otherwise not have had, those responsible for the laws cannot escape punishment. However, the public officials' own addiction to fame, popularity, or public office may be a mitigating factor.
Question: If Bernard Madoff steals forty billion dollars, is his punishment the same as that meted out to a man who willingly and knowingly steals over a thousand? Answer: Both are in different places in the same Circle of Hell.
Question: Does the "sliding scale" of Hell, as Dante teaches, describe placement that makes for the appropriate punishment? Answer: Yes. The longer and more painful the sentence, the more careful the judge is when it is imposed.
Part II. Government theft.
When a Fidel Castro steals an entire country and turns it into his personal property, there is great punishment coming to willing participants in those endless thefts of life, joy, and property.
Those outside the country who justify and praise such thefts are equally guilty, and all will be punished. The man who want to sin and does not only because he lacks opportunity is a thief at heart. In America and Europe, many who are "thieves at heart", mostly on the left, look at Castro as some kind of "hero". They praise him at every opportunity, excusing the theft of life and property by saying "He has improved education and medical care." In actual fact, he has done neither, but for those who seek approval from earthly powers, the actual fact means nothing. The praise, of course, only cements their own desires for stolen money.
In most countries, thieves have taken control of government. Using the laws and regulations that they, themselves, pass, they find approval for their thefts, and proceed to fatten their holdings far beyond those who avoid sinking into such a trap. This process is allowed to exist for one reason, to separate sheep from goats.
The desire to steal from their neighbors attracts the goatish souls. They have been drawn to possessing ever more programmed entities, rather than choosing to get closer to He Who programmed them. When their desire for programmed entities outweighs their desire to obey The Programmer's Operating Instructions, they immediately tell the biggest, and most dangerous, lie of all: "I am interested in something more important than truth. I am interested in helping people." For that reason, no leftist can ever admit that the cruel dungeons in which Castro has imprisoned hundreds of thousands of starving people are far worse than the air-conditioned prison at Guantanamo that they excoriate at every opportunity.
We, who can see this dichotomy between their words and the bloody reality of what they ignore, have a chance to be saved by choosing The Programmer over the entities He has programmed. Goatish souls have very little chance of that, wrapped as they are in growing layers of lies that hide whatever remnants of good that are remaining within.
It is dangerous to try to save such souls. They will lash out at those who make such attempts, driven by the hordes of demons that realize that love of God and neighbor are their deadliest enemies. Still, even institutionalized thieves, swaddled in seemingly impermeable layers of laws, lies, and blinding self-righteousness, have souls, and it is our duty to do what we can for them.

All we need to know about the Culture of Death:
This from junkscience.com: "Death from malaria means convulsions and delirium, retching and diarrhea, joint and abdominal pain so excruciating that coma can be a blessing. The parasitic infection destroys the body’s red blood cells and clogs its capillaries, depriving vital organs and the brain of blood. That malaria strikes some 300 million people annually — and kills an African child every 30 seconds — is all the more tragic given how preventable it is. But modern environmental ideology simply doesn’t permit the use of DDT, the most effective means of eradicating the ghastly disease."
Hearts in the Culture of Death are hardened, if not actually ossified, when considering the pain they produce. They will not think about what their actions do to their neighbors. They are not only blind to death and pain, especially that which they, themselves, actively promote, but also, the worst of them do what they can to bring more death and pain upon their neighbors.
None wish to be reminded that DDT was nearly wiped out a few decades ago. They do not want to remember that malaria quickly became the crippling killer that it used to be when the neighbor-hating souls of the leftist environmentalists made it illegal to make and use.

Idol Worship, the Culture of Death in every age.
The Bible records children being sacrificed to idols. The Scriptural record makes it clear that God hates child sacrifice. Since those who produce viruses love to corrupt programs, God hates, and the Devil loves, those who corrupt and erase the most complicated living programs of all, human beings.
Just as a father loves his children, so our Father in Heaven loves His. Those who separate themselves from His love separate themselves from their neighbors and their own souls. They live as electro-mechanical beings in a electro-mechanical world, despising their own immortal souls as much as the lives of their neighbors.
While many of us encourage them to save their souls, we know that it's often futile. Once a person enters into the Culture of Death, it is very hard to show them why they should leave it for a Kingdom that provides no earthly guarantees of any kind. The "broad pathway to destruction" has many temptations along its gentle, downward course.
One wonders what has allowed some to leave death for life. It seems that those who persistently choose death are dominated by the seven deadly viruses, Pride, Envy, Greed, Gluttony, Anger, Lust, and Sloth. These viruses are hard to remove from our central processing units, but, it has been, and can be, done. Encouraging a lost soul to make a simple plea, "God, help me." is a good way to start.
Once said, that request for programming assistance allows the Holy Wireless Connector to begin connecting the soul to He Who lovingly programmed it.

Love among us programmed entities.
We are among the most complicated of programmed entities. We have been programmed with so many components among such complex programs that it's easy to lose sight of the fact that each of us individual human programs lives in a myriad of programs that our minds have been programmed to partly understand.
The least corrupted human program is so close to The Programmer as to be saintly. The purest love among us focus on The Programmer and doing His will. We can see how comparatively wretched we are by reading the lives of the saints. By doing so, we can understand that, by doing so, we are drawing closer to The Programmer. We may, in fact, call Him "Father" as we increase in understanding that He programmed us because He loves us.
When we write a program for our computer, or build a house, or write a poem, we are doing what we are programmed to do. We have been programmed with the ability to partly replicate ourselves with children. Hopefully, we will raise and guide them to seek The Programmer. We have responsibility for their lives and, to some degree, where they will spend eternity.
Our priests have been called to a higher love. They program their lives, ideally living as Christ lived, to help us program our own lives so that we move closer to The Loving Programmer. Our priests baptize us, confirm us, marry us, forgive our sins, anoint us when sick, and provide the last rites as our souls, the most fundamental part of our individual programs, leave this level of programmed entities, go to judgment, and take our rightful place in the programs beyond.

The first day of summer
was last Sunday, the 21st of June. As we know, the summer solstice is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. The sun is farther North than on any other day. In the six months that follow June 21st, the days grow gradually shorter and the sun begins to move to the South. So, shouldn't June 21st be the last day of summer?
Similarly, December 21st is the first day of winter. It is the reversal of June 21st, and is the Northern Hemisphere's shortest day, with the sun as far south in the sky as it gets. From December 21st to June 21st, the days grow ever longer. In that regard, shouldn't December 21st be the last day of winter?
Several dozen billion people have spent their lifetimes believing that the winter and summer solstices mark the beginnings, rather than the ends of winter and summer. It's hard to believe that so many people could all be wrong about something so basic as that, but they were, and continue to operate in that error.
In the "Monographs" section on the header, there's a "History of Scotland". In it, we find that the ancient Picts divided the year into two seasons, "Ducks", when there were ducks, and "No Ducks", when there were no ducks. Primitive as this is, it does make more sense than identifying the start of a season with the date that marks the beginning of its disappearance.

What does our soul look like?
The soul is a being that, during its time on earth, has the ability to crystallize and organize particles around it immediately after conception. The fertilized egg grows rapidly, until it has absorbed and organized enough particles from outside itself to accumulate billions of cells. Each cell works with others to promote the health, welfare, and continued growth of the soul's physical manifestation that coalesced around it.
When the soul's body emerges into the world, it is clothed in skin, moved by muscles, supported by bones, nourished by intake and digestion, and can transform a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, meat, milk, and grain into further extensions of its body's operating systems. The soul is also able to absorb various kinds of wavelengths, process the information thereby gained, and use that information to help its soul accumulate more.
Since our soul is the nucleating agent around which every part of our minds and bodies coalesces, it is not unreasonable to say, when looking in the mirror, "Hello, soul. There you are."

Rating our soul
is God's job. We can make some comparisons of how our own souls will be judged with the way we, who are made in the Judge's image, quantify things with which we're familiar.
Most light bulbs have a rating. Some are five watts. Others are rated at 10 watts. Huge searchlights designed to illuminate airplanes high above the earth may rated at several thousand watts. Light bulbs in lighthouses are similarly boggling in their output.
Humans with the brightest souls can sense the influence of demons trying to destroy souls. They can also emit enough light to let others avoid the sin they illuminate. At Judgment, it's better to be a five watt bulb that gave out steady light that reduced stumbling and falling than be judged to be a brightly flashing star that attracted weaker and simpler souls to their own destruction.

It's tempting, but wrong, to think of them as "the stupids". "Fearful" is more appropriate.
We are surrounded by people who are wrong about an amazing number of things. Each of us knows, and probably likes, people who believed in Global Freezing twenty years ago, and who were as easily led to worry even more about Global Warming, today. The same people worried about the Ozone Hole, and thought that dioxin was a "dangerous killer".
This type of person is not just concerned with Imaginary Problems on a global scale. Individually, they watch their salt and sugar intake, solemnly letting people know how important such concerns are. Their weight is another deep concern, and they are quick to let others know how vital it is to maintain the latest body mass index and whatever other concerns they are told "are critically important". They think that buying "organic" food is "healthful".
Cholesterol is, of course, important to them. They often know the difference between "good" cholesterol and "bad" cholesterol, and are more than willing to explain those differences to the rest of us. Since most of them have medical insurance that covers prescriptions, they don't mind spending a lot of money on various chemicals that keep their livers from doing the cholesterol-producing job they were carefully designed to do.
There is nothing about which vain pseudo-intellectuals can't be convinced to be alarmed, from trans-fats to plastic bags. It is not so much that they are simply not bright, but that they lack the courage to ask the simple question "Who benefits?" from each new alarm. They are more comfortable with their easily-transformable view of the world. They regard switches in position, as from Global Freezing to Global Warming, as a sign of "flexible thinking". That thinking is never flexible enough to realize that such "flexible thinking" indicates only that they are utterly controlled by skilled marketing professionals, much as puppets on the ends of strings.
Those able to ask "Who benefits?" more easily see who's pulling the strings and are, therefore, less pliable.
One cure for alarmist, flip-flop thinking? Believing in God, love, and truth. The Unprogrammed Programmer has told us through His Church and Scripture that He wants us to be obedient, loving, and truthful. Those whose basic beliefs change with each new flurry of press releases are lost; poor souls wandering in increasingly opaque fog for eternity. Those who switch back and forth from one Imaginary Problem to another lose respect for their very selves, and are easy prey for the soul-devouring demons who lurk among the dark clouds of confusion.
We who are blessed with belief in God are also blessed with more consistency in our beliefs about the programmed entities and our relationship to them. Most of us, even if subconsciously, judge the people we know by their susceptibility to fads. We know that the person who could be led to believe in a fraud like Global Warming is less likely to be able to think intelligently about anything than someone who was able to see through the fraud.
We recognize that the sooner a person is able to see through the other side's endless procession of frauds, the more intelligent he or she is. Those who never believed in what turned out to be a fraud or marketing ploy, of course, are the most trustworthy of all.

Loving vs. Hating
When The Unprogrammed Programmer sent His Son, The Living Program in perfect, loving, obedient, human form to earth, He made it clear that we were to love our neighbor. His very presence on earth, in fact, was a result of His Father's love for us. Mary's obedience in bringing our Savior to life was another manifestation of love.
Loving God keeps us consistently centered on love, truth, and obedience.
Those on the other side have one love: they choose to endlessly attack life, love, and truth. Their lack of love for all but their own attack-mentality makes their minds unable to understand the world around them. That causes a lack of harmony in their minds, which become overloaded with contradictions that are usually hidden by the swelling vanity whose insatiable needs take up their lives.
Their many, many problems, most of them utterly imaginary, are the inevitable results of their spiritual choice to avoid God and His Operating Instructions. They willingly make that choice, and the countless following decisions to continue to ignore Him. Problems spring up like mushrooms in their minds.
Having minds overloaded with inconsistencies is about the only consistency in their lives. We can see one consistency among the hate-filled, and that is a tendency to hate whatever they can define, along with whatever they cannot define. Once a definition is made and embraced, it is quickly attacked by those who did not think of it.
Without God, they are as lost as compass needles without magnetic poles.
