Presidential candidate Rick Santorum’s recorded speeches from several years ago were recently made into a popular item on the state media. When it was found that he said “Satan is trying to destroy the United States”, hirelings immediately began reading from their teleprompters that “Santorum is a religious fanatic”.

No one in state-run media was allowed to mention that Satan’s existence has been recorded throughout our ancient Judeo-Christian heritage since the episode in The Garden. Instead of recognizing that historical reality, the universal cry of “Fanatic” was raised in reference to Mr. Santorum.

We may assume that “personalities” who bear false witness in exchange for the lush salaries paid by the state-run media are aware of Satan’s reality. While he does not personally sign their paychecks, they are at least dimly aware that they’re working for him. He must have told them, through his higher-ranking minions, to squelch the possibility of having anyone seriously contemplating the destruction he has planned for every kind of truth, love, and goodness.

We have seen the personification of evil using his power to keep people from discussing the truth about him. What do we learn? If nothing else, some names of those who do his bidding.

Christianity Complicated and Confused by Protestants

The Roman Catholic clergy take Vows of Obedience and Celibacy. Many take an additional Vow of Poverty, though all promise not to become entangled in business enterprises for personal gain.

That system worked. By 500 A.D., most of our ancestors in Europe were Catholic. They remained Catholic for a thousand years. Then, others wanted to become clergymen without taking the same vows. Their movement gained traction in the 1500s. Soon, Europe was fragmented, Protestants vying with Catholics for theological and political dominance.

Compare the process to professional sports. At one time, the players on a big-league ball field were required to be professionals who devoted their lives to the game. They had rigorous selection procedures. Tough rules for the players had to be followed.

Only those who agreed to play by the team’s rigorous rules could be selected. Only those who lived up to their agreement were allowed to play. Imagine that, suddenly, a bunch of little-leaguers decided “We have just as much right to be on the field as the professionals!”. With the support of armed stadium guards, they take the field.

Suddenly, there are lots of people running around the field, with several teams playing at a time. Chaos emerges.

The corrupting viruses are happy.

Catholic Fundamentalism sees it as another manifestation of The Loving Programmer’s power. He has downloaded a system in which the garden continues to weed itself, where the sheep are provided with another opportunity to separate themselves from goats.

Reading 1 Is 43:18-19, 21-22, 24b-25

Thus says the LORD:
Remember not the events of the past,
the things of long ago consider not;
see, I am doing something new!
Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
In the desert I make a way,
in the wasteland, rivers.
The people I formed for myself,
that they might announce my praise.
Yet you did not call upon me, O Jacob,
for you grew weary of me, O Israel.
You burdened me with your sins,
and wearied me with your crimes.
It is I, I, who wipe out,
for my own sake, your offenses;
your sins I remember no more.

Responsorial Psalm Ps 41:2-3, 4-5, 13-14

R. (5b) Lord, heal my soul, for I have sinned against you.
Blessed is the one who has regard for the lowly and the poor;
in the day of misfortune the LORD will deliver him.
The LORD will keep and preserve him;
and make him blessed on earth,
and not give him over to the will of his enemies.
R. Lord, heal my soul, for I have sinned against you.
The LORD will help him on his sickbed,
he will take away all his ailment when he is ill.
Once I said, “O LORD, have pity on me;
heal me, though I have sinned against you.”
R. Lord, heal my soul, for I have sinned against you.
But because of my integrity you sustain me
and let me stand before you forever.
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel,
from all eternity. Amen. Amen.
R. Lord, heal my soul, for I have sinned against you.

Reading 2 2 Cor 1:18-22

Brothers and sisters:
As God is faithful,
our word to you is not “yes” and “no.”
For the Son of God, Jesus Christ,
who was proclaimed to you by us, Silvanus and Timothy and me,
was not “yes” and “no, ” but “yes” has been in him.
For however many are the promises of God, their Yes is in him;
therefore, the Amen from us also goes through him to God for glory.
But the one who gives us security with you in Christ
and who anointed us is God;
he has also put his seal upon us
and given the Spirit in our hearts as a first installment.

Gospel Mk 2:1-12

When Jesus returned to Capernaum after some days,
it became known that he was at home.
Many gathered together so that there was no longer room for them,
not even around the door,
and he preached the word to them.
They came bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men.
Unable to get near Jesus because of the crowd,
they opened up the roof above him.
After they had broken through,
they let down the mat on which the paralytic was lying.
When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic,
“Child, your sins are forgiven.”
Now some of the scribes were sitting there asking themselves,
“Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming.
Who but God alone can forgive sins?”
Jesus immediately knew in his mind
what they were thinking to themselves,
so he said, “Why are you thinking such things in your hearts?
Which is easier, to say to the paralytic,
‘Your sins are forgiven,’
or to say, ‘Rise, pick up your mat and walk?’
But that you may know
that the Son of Man has authority to forgive sins on earth”
-he said to the paralytic,
“I say to you, rise, pick up your mat, and go home.”
He rose, picked up his mat at once,
and went away in the sight of everyone.
They were all astounded
and glorified God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this.”

</div>

<div style=”width: 49%; float: right; border-left: 1px solid #CCC; padding-left: 10px;”>
<!– Second Column –>

The Loving Programmer tells us very specifically that we are not to consider earlier downloads. He is downloading a New Program. He’s doing it through people He’s chosen so that they might tell the other human programs what He has done.

The human programs He chose ignored Him. He does not seem to care. He is going to make a New Download that will fix all the errors the earlier human downloads chose to make.

Loving Programmer, erase the errors in my soul, for I have sinned against You.

The Loving Programmer provides Programming Assistance for those who provide it for those less fortunate than themselves. When things go badly, the Loving Programmer will help those human programs, and keep them safe from viruses.

The Loving Programmer will restore good human programs when they’re sick. To get that Assistance, we must admit to The Loving Programmer that we have corrupted our programs with errors.

If we tell the truth, The Loving Programmer will sustain us, and let our human program be close to Him, The Loving Programmer, forever. Blessed be The Loving Programmer Who first showed His favor to His chosen.

Fellow believers, it is not enough to say “yes”. We must be “yes” when it comes to believing in The Loving Programmer, The Program, and The Holy Wireless Connector. We who become “yes” will be sealed with Him forever.

When Jesus returned to Capernaum, crowds gathered. Some wanted to watch. Others wanted to be healed. Soon, the crowd grew so large that no one could get into the house. A paralyzed man was carried by four friends. Since they couldn’t get through, they got him up on the roof, made a hole, and lowered him to Jesus.

When Jesus saw the paralytic, He said, “Child, your sins are forgiven.”

Some of the scribes were there. They were nosy and looking for reasons to demean Jesus. “Why does This Man speak this way. He is blaspheming.” One can imagine how utterly self-righteous they were.

Jesus knew their motives, and asked, “Why are you thinking such things in your hearts? Is it easier to say to the paralyzed man ‘Your sins are forgiven.’ or to tell him to ‘Rise, pick up your mat and walk?’

“So that you may know that I have the programming power, granted me by The Loving Programmer, to forgive sins here”, He turned and said to the paralytic, “I say to you, rise, pick up your mat and go home.”

He did so as everyone watched, in awe at having seen Jesus’s programming power and the hostility toward Him evinced by the scribes.

</div>
</div>

Today’s reading is from James, 2. In it, he makes this point:

You believe that God is one.
You do well.  (Sarcasim?)
Even the demons believe that and tremble.

     Obviously, there is One God. While believers and religions may say “God is One.”, that gives them little credit. Those who write and download viruses know a great deal about the computer programs they want to corrupt. Similarly, the demons, living viruses who work to corrupt us human programs, understand a great deal about The Loving Programmer and His programs.

     Those who try to corrupt His programs know about Him. They know that He is One. By itself, the fact that we recognize His Oneness doesn’t get us any closer to Heaven than it does the demons who recognize the very same fact.

     Good deeds must accompany the knowledge that God is One before it does us any good.

We can frequently tell when people are lying on the various “news” programs. The first lie is that what they are saying is “news”. Their “news” is composed of lies that the Controllers want us to believe or truths they want to hide.

Most of our minds refuse to believe that people are lying when they say they are telling the truth. Our trusting nature means that most “news” is believed.

It is easy for conservative Americans to look at FedTube’s leftist outlets, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, and CNN and dismiss what’s being said as propaganda. Similarly, liberal Americans believe that’s FOX broadcasts are one-sided diatribes.

Real news, like the willful destruction of a million unborn Americans a year, is never mentioned. The news that government spending reductions would bring prosperity is similarly hidden. Lies and Exaggerations that justify spending are never exposed. The fact is that every means of communication under direct government is far from truth.

Some tell lies. Others hide truth. That’s not our problem. When our souls are judged, sentences will be handed down. We can be thankful if we were not part of the frauds.

Today’s reading is extremely interesting to Catholic Fundamentalism:

Gospel Mk 8:22-26

When Jesus and his disciples arrived at Bethsaida,
people brought to Him a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.
He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village.
Putting spittle on his eyes He laid His hands on the man and asked,
“Do you see anything?”
Looking up the man replied, “I see people looking like trees and walking.”
Then He laid hands on the man’s eyes a second time and he saw clearly;
his sight was restored and he could see everything distinctly.
Then He sent him home and said, “Do not even go into the village.”

Jesus was asked to restore a man’s “Vision Program”. He did so. the man reported that the first level of programming was successful. He knew that could see because images were in his brain. But, he did not know what he was seeing, telling Jesus, “I see people who look like walking trees.”

So, his eyes were admitting light, and the images were being accessed by the brain, but the images made so sense. So, Jesus moved to a higher level of programming, and restored the inner workings of that part of the “Vision Program” that was in the brain.

Jesus was able to restore the tiniest parts of the human’s Vision Program, particles as small as atoms and molecules. He was able to ensure that the tiny amounts of light not only were transmitted into the mind, but also, that the mind could make sense of them.

A person just gaining the ability to see needs months of experience to relate what he is suddenly seeing to things that have only been known by other senses. Jesus showed that He had the ability to download within the man all that he needed to make sense of what was now having come into his mind. Further, He downloaded each bit of information in the right place.

Jesus, “the Word of God”, had the power to transmit all the “words” into the proper places within the man’s “Brain Program” so that he could make sense of what he was now seeing.

Each of us was lovingly programmed at the moment of our conception. Over time, we have downloaded ourselves to where we are, now. We have freely willed to use our minds and bodies as we wanted. Soon, each soul will leave its mind and body and go to Final Judgment.

Believers in Final Judgment tend to obey the operating instructions provided by our Loving Programmer. We may choose to believe that the Loving Programmer doesn’t care about what we do. Or, we may believe that there is no Final Judge.

The safe belief: “If there is a Final Judgment for my soul, my very essence, will either go to eternal joy or everlasting pain. My bet is that I should behave.”

Many bet the wrong way. “Why should I keep myself from doing whatever I want, whenever I want? they ask, and act accordingly. They do not see the awful effect that viruses have had on their “personal computer”. Their vanity blinds them to any way of thinking that differs from their own. Even the thought that there are corrupting viruses that may have kept them from operating properly is ignored.

What makes people think they are above Judgment? In every time and place, one corrupting virus is often successful. Vanity.

     Every American city has a core. Around that core are rings of suburbs. As we move outward, the lots are bigger. When we get into the county, many homes are on multi-acre lots carved from old farms within living memory.

     Those who’ve moved into the outer rings within the past thirty or forty years came from decaying parts of the inner rings. They were usually Catholic. When they moved into the country, they dived into a sea of Protestants.

     Many drowned. There were no more neighborhood parishes small enough for them to walk to Church. Instead, they often had to drive many miles. Many felt the effort was too much. Most of their neighbors didn’t go to church. There is a widespread belief in rural areas that “It’s not important if we go to church. The most important thing is to believe.” That sentence is accompanied by sincere, wide-eyed nods.

     As a result of living without a trustworthy structure, they began to fall ever farther from faith. They have forgotten that many of their ancestors were discriminated against for generations, but still managed to keep faith with The Church.

      These “immigrants to the country”, descended from faithful stalwarts, have broken the chain connecting their generations with truth. At Judgment Day, they will understand what they, and their children, have lost because they broke the chain.

First Reading,    1 Kgs 12:26-32; 13:33-34

“Jeroboam thought to himself:
‘The kingdom will return to David’s house.
If now this people go up to offer sacrifices
in the temple of the LORD in Jerusalem,
the hearts of this people will return to their master,
Rehoboam, king of Judah,
and they will kill me.’After taking counsel, the king made two calves of gold
and said to the people:
“You have been going up to Jerusalem long enough.
Here is your God, O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.”

(To cement his political power, Jeroboam provided two versions of debased religion for his subjects. By controlling their faith, he assured that his administration would maintain control. Two faiths ensured that he would be able to play one against the other.)
And he put one in Bethel, the other in Dan.
This led to sin, because the people frequented those calves
in Bethel and in Dan.
He also built temples on the high places
and made priests from among the people who were not Levites.

(Public Officials who brought early Protestant denominations into being made priests out of people who were not required to take vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. )

Jeroboam established a feast in the eighth month
on the fifteenth day of the month
to duplicate in Bethel the pilgrimage feast of Judah,
with sacrifices to the calves he had made;
and he stationed in Bethel priests of the high places he had built.
(Their competing faiths, on the surface, duplicated some elements of the True Faith. Few noticed that the underlying structure was corrupt. Those who knew that could be identified, watched, isolated, and controlled.)
Jeroboam did not give up his evil ways after this,
but again made priests for the high places
from among the common people.
Whoever desired it was consecrated
and became a priest of the high places.
This was a sin on the part of the house of Jeroboam
for which it was to be cut off and destroyed from the earth.

(The Loving Programmer wants priests that He has chosen, not those who would have primary allegiance to human authority. The programs of such people are erased.)

Responsorial Psalm Ps 106:6-7ab, 19-20, 21-22

R. (4a) Remember us, O Lord, as you favor your people.
We have sinned, we and our fathers;
we have committed crimes; we have done wrong.
Our fathers in Egypt
considered not your wonders.
R. Remember us, O Lord, as you favor your people.
They made a calf in Horeb
and adored a molten image;
They exchanged their glory
for the image of a grass-eating bullock. (They made their own God. Big mistake.)
R. Remember us, O Lord, as you favor your people.
They forgot the God who had saved them,
who had done great deeds in Egypt,
Wondrous deeds in the land of Ham,
terrible things at the Red Sea.
R. Remember us, O Lord, as you favor your people.

Gospel Mk 8:1-10

In those days when there again was a great crowd without anything to eat,
Jesus summoned the disciples and said,
“My heart is moved with pity for the crowd,
because they have been with me now for three days
and have nothing to eat.
If I send them away hungry to their homes,
they will collapse on the way,
and some of them have come a great distance.”
His disciples answered Him, “Where can anyone get enough bread
to satisfy them here in this deserted place?”
Still He asked them, “How many loaves do you have?”
They replied, “Seven.”
He ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground.
Then, taking the seven loaves He gave thanks, broke them,
and gave them to His disciples to distribute,
and they distributed them to the crowd.
They also had a few fish.
He said the blessing over them
and ordered them distributed also.
They ate and were satisfied.
They picked up the fragments left over–seven baskets.
There were about four thousand people.He dismissed the crowd and got into the boat with His disciples
and came to the region of Dalmanutha.

(God’s power to help His people by programming what they needed for life was manifested.)

     One is pro-life. The other, pro-abortion. If a person chooses the former, he may not get to Heaven, but he has not added to his sins. Voting for the pro-abortion candidate, on the other hand, is a private manifestation of hating one’s smallest and most helpless neighbors. It is, barring a successful confession, a prelude to final condemnation.
