Sunday of the Eighth Week in Ordinary Time

Is 49:14-15

Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me;
my LORD has forgotten me.”
Can a mother forget her infant,
be without tenderness for the child of her womb?
Even should she forget,
I will never forget you.

Ps 62:2-3, 6-7, 8-9Responsorial Psalm

R. (6a) Rest in God alone, my soul.
Only in God is my soul at rest;
from him comes my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation,
my stronghold; I shall not be disturbed at all.
R. Rest in God alone, my soul.
Only in God be at rest, my soul,
for from him comes my hope.
He only is my rock and my salvation,
my stronghold; I shall not be disturbed.
R. Rest in God alone, my soul.
With God is my safety and my glory,
he is the rock of my strength; my refuge is in God.
Trust in him at all times, O my people!
Pour out your hearts before him.
R. Rest in God alone, my soul.

1 Cor 4:1-5

Reading 2

Brothers and sisters:
Thus should one regard us: as servants of Christ
and stewards of the mysteries of God.
Now it is of course required of stewards
that they be found trustworthy.
It does not concern me in the least
that I be judged by you or any human tribunal;
I do not even pass judgment on myself;
I am not conscious of anything against me,
but I do not thereby stand acquitted;
the one who judges me is the Lord.
Therefore do not make any judgment before the appointed time,
until the Lord comes,
for he will bring to light what is hidden in darkness
and will manifest the motives of our hearts,
and then everyone will receive praise from God.

Mt 6:24-34Gospel

Jesus said to his disciples:
“No one can serve two masters.
He will either hate one and love the other,
or be devoted to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and mammon.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or drink,
or about your body, what you will wear.
Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds in the sky;
they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns,
yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are not you more important than they?
Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span?
Why are you anxious about clothes?
Learn from the way the wild flowers grow.
They do not work or spin.
But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor
was clothed like one of them.
If God so clothes the grass of the field,
which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow,
will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith?
So do not worry and say, ‘What are we to eat?’
or ‘What are we to drink?’or ‘What are we to wear?’
All these things the pagans seek.
Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given you besides.
Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself.
Sufficient for a day is its own evil.”

Catholic Fundamentalism Interpretation:

God’s chosen people believed that The Loving Programmer had forsaken them.  They couldn’t believe He’d abandon them, and are told that His love for them was greater than the love of a mother for her baby.

My soul only finds rest in He Who lovingly programmed it into being.

He is my salvation, my rock, my stronghold.  In Him, I shall not, cannot, be disturbed.

My soul only finds rest in He Who lovingly programmed it into being.

He is all that I have, my only place of safety.

My soul only finds rest in He Who lovingly programmed it into being.

O people of The Kingdom trust in Him at all times.  Pour out your hearts before Him.

My soul only finds rest in He Who lovingly programmed it into being.

My fellow believers, one (who thinks about us) should think of us as servants of Christ (The Living Program Who came to earth in perfect, obedient, human form) and those who take care of the Mysteries of The Loving Programmer.  As you know, stewards are required to be trustworthy.  It’s of no concern of mine that I be judged by you or any human judge;  I don’t even pass judgment on myself;  I am not aware of anything I’ve done that can be held against me, but that doesn’t mean I’m innocent;  the One Who judges me is The Loving Programmer.  So, don’t you make any judgment until He does!

The Program will expose all that is hidden, and He will make obvious what has motivated us.  Then, everyone will receive praise from The Loving Programmer.

Jesus, (The Program, in perfect, obedient, human form) said to His disciples:  "No one can serve two masters.  He will either hate one and love the other or vice-versa.

No human program can serve both God and created entities.  Therefore, I tell you, don’t worry about your life, your food, your health, or your clothes.

Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothes?

"Look at the birds in the sky.  They don’t plant crops or harvest them, or store them.  But, The Loving Programmer makes sure that The Creation Program provides for them.  Aren’t you more important than they?

Can any of you, by worrying, add even a minute to your life?

Why do you worry so much about clothes?  Learn from the wild flowers.  They don’t work or spin.  But, I tell you (and I know because I saw him!) that not even Solomon in all his glory was dressed as well as a single flower.

If The Loving Programmer dresses the grass of the field that magnificently, and it grows today and is burned tomorrow, won’t He program a lot more things to meet your needs, you who have little faith?

"Don’t worry, and say, ‘What are we supposed to eat?’, or ‘What are we supposed to drink?’, or ‘What should we wear?’

Those are the kinds of things that pagans, those outside the Kingdom of God, worry about.  He Who Lovingly Programmed you into being knows what you need (Better than anyone else!), but don’t worry about that.  First, seek His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you on top of that.  Don’t worry about tomorrow (He will still be here, still taking care of you!) let the program for tomorrow run.  It’ll be all right.  Each day has enough problems and errors to worry about without adding to them by worrying about what could happen but probably won’t.
