Today, Catholics are blessed with The Prophecy of Nahum 2:1, 2; 3:1, 6-7 that begins:
“See, upon the mountains there advances the bearer of good news, announcing peace.”
Then, we see the “Hidden Catholic Prophecy”: “Celebrate your feasts, O Judah, fulfill your vows! For nevermore shall you be invaded by the scoundrel; he is completely destroyed.”
Was The Prophet wrong? Historical facts are clear! In 70 AD, Rome did “invade Judah” and then went on to “destroy” Jerusalem. That Fulfilled The Prophecy from Jesus in Matthew 24:2, Mark 13:2, and Luke 21:6 that “not one stone would be left standing upon another.” May all be blessed to see that Nahum’s “Hidden Catholic Prophecy” perfectly predicts the fate of all who do not “fulfill” our “vows” to God!
The Prophets knew of lands 2,000 miles from Israel, including Tarshish, in Spain. Jonah wanted to spend a month or so sailing there to avoid doing God’s Work in Nineveh, which would require him to travel 750 miles to the East.
That great city in the Assyrian Empire also ended up being “destroyed”, even after Jonah had led it to repentance. People knew the “destruction” of many great cities from Carthage to Babylon.
The “Hidden Catholic Prophecy”: Despite once being saved, many end up being “destroyed” by refusing to obey the teaching of Moses and Jesus to “Love God and love your neighbor as yourself.”

Today’s Catholic Reading shows us God’s Overwhelming Power in Deuteronomy 39: “It is I Who deal death and give life.”
Matthew 5:10 is Today’s “Alleluia” that tells Catholics how to live! “Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness; for theirs is The Kingdom of Heaven.”
Catholics connect Jonah, Nahum, destroyed cities, and all of The Bible’s Messianic Prophecies to ourselves. We are blessed to see the eternal blessing of “Being Catholic Enough To Be Persecuted!”
We know that He Who Fulfilled the Messianic Prophecies is The Living Word of God in Human Form (John 1:1). We know that He did Speak His One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church into Being with His Church-Creating Word to His First Catholic Pope (Matthew 16:18-20):
“And I say unto you: ‘Thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.'”
Striving to “Be as Catholic as we can!” gives us the great blessing our beloved Catholic Saints gave their lives to provide: “The more Catholic we are, the more we are blessed to be ‘persecuted’ by worldly organizations and people who prefer fulfilling desires to getting ‘the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven’!”
Catholics realize Nahum predicted their fate: “scoundrels who are completely destroyed”! May we all read that at least twice!
Catholics are blessed! We listen carefully to Mt. 16:24:28, where we hear Five Direct Orders from Jesus: “Jesus said to His disciples: ‘Whoever wishes to come after Me (1) must deny himself, (2) take up his cross, and (3) follow Me. (4) For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but (5) whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.'”
Then, He Who Fulfilled the Messianic Prophecies asks us Two Specific Questions that self-serving souls avoid! (1) “What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? Or, (2) what can one give in exchange for his life?”
Then, The Prophesied Messiah made Three Promises that help many to “Be as Catholic as we can!”: (1) “For the Son of Man will come with His angels in His Father’s Glory, and (2) then He will repay each according to his conduct. (3) Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see The Son of Man coming in His Kingdom.”
May we all be blessed to “Be as Catholic as we can!” Some use an acronym from that as a new Catholic word: “bacawec!” It is a wonderful reminder of how eternally important it is to “Be as Catholic as we can!”
