At some points in our “journey through life”, this “Catholic Connection” describes us!
Numbers 21: 4-9: “With their patience worn out by the journey, the people complained against God and Moses, ‘Why have you brought us up from Egypt to die in this desert, where there is no food or water? We are disgusted with this wretched food!'”
We see how God responded to their self-centered complaints! “In punishment, the LORD sent among the people saraph serpents, which bit the people so many of them died.”
Those who remained alive realized they needed God in their lives! “Then, the people came to Moses and said, ‘We have sinned against the LORD and you. Pray the LORD to take the serpents from us.'”
Moses did as the properly humble people asked: “So Moses prayed for the people, and the LORD said to Moses: ‘Make a saraph and mount it on a pole, and if any who have been bitten look at it, they will live.’ Moses accordingly made a bronze serpent and mounted it on a pole, and whenever anyone who had been bitten by a serpent looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.”
Today, “Catholic Connections” let us see those “saraph serpents” as seven species of demons. They creep through our minds to “bite” us with pride, envy, greed, gluttony, anger, lust, and sloth. We have a “new Catholic word” to describe them: “peggalas”.
Catholics are blessed to make the “Catholic Connections” predicted by Moses and the “saraph serpent”. John 3:13-17 makes it clear:
“Jesus said to Nicodemus: ‘No one has gone up to Heaven except the one who has come down from Heaven, the Son of Man. And, just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life.'”
May every family on earth be blessed to make “Catholic Connections” that “lifted” us to God’s Truth and “have eternal life” in The Church-Creating Word of Jesus to His First Catholic Pope!
“And I say unto you: ‘Thou art Peter, and on this rock I build My Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.'”
There is a greater “Catholic Connection”! We do not only “look” upon images of our Savior! Catholics are also blessed to see that The Loving Programmer actually “Downloads” the life-giving Body and Blood of His Son at every Catholic Mass following The Last Supper.
Catholics are blessed to “Connect” with God clearly enough to obey The Call to Catholic Communion that He Who Fulfilled The Messianic Prophecies repeated 10 times in the last half of John 6 and twice more at The Last Supper!
“If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood, you do not have life in you.”
May all be blessed to see The Loving Programmer Who Downloaded The Creation Program clearly enough to make that “Catholic Connection”!
