What of those who leave The Church Jesus Founded? God tells us what He thinks of them. If we heed His words, we will return to His Only Church. If we do not, what happens? St. Paul makes it very, very clear. No hope for those who leave. He tells us so when writing to the earliest Catholics in Heb 10:32-39.
“Remember the days past when, after you had been enlightened, (and you became one of the earliest members of what would be known as The Catholic Church) you endured a great contest of suffering. At times you were publicly exposed to abuse and affliction; at other times you associated yourselves with those so treated. You even joined in the sufferings of those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, knowing that you had a better and lasting possession. (The earliest Catholics gave up possessions, freedom, and life to remain faithful to The Church Jesus Founded.) Therefore, do not throw away your confidence; it will have great recompense.
Then, pay attention to this sentence. How well you obey it will determine where your soul spends the next million, or billion, years and more:
You need endurance to do the will of God and receive what he has promised. (This is a serious warning. A more serious warning follows:
For, after just a brief moment, he who is to come shall come; he shall not delay. But my just one shall live by faith, and if he draws back I take no pleasure in him. (Of those who remain faithful, obedient members of The Only Church He Founded, it may be said:) We are not among those who draw back and perish, but among those who have faith and will possess life. Those who remain in His Church “possess life“.
This statement of what we need to have life ties in with a similar verse: “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.”
How can anyone read The Bible’s direct commands to be Catholic, have life, and not obey? Demons of Pride, Envy, Greed, Gluttony, Anger, Lust and Sloth keep many away. Those demons crawl through the mind and lead us away from truth into lies. They cause many to “draw back and perish”by getting them to leave The Only Church Jesus Founded.
