The devil’s attacks on goodness and decency take many forms. The common denominator? Disruption, disorder, and “dis” everything. Dante described the workings of the devil as “dis”.
Throughout history, the devil has pushed to destroy every good thing and institution. He has destroyed with divorce, birth control, and abortion. He undermines marriage, prosperity, and all that is good and decent.
Soccer is typical of activities which are made as hurtful as possible. When a child’s head comes in contact with a soccer ball speeding toward it, the brain sloshes within the skull. Delicate bones in the ear undergo stress. Delicate neural connections are broken. Who could be in favor of that?
It would be easy to say: “Let’s just stop letting kids hit soccer balls with their heads.”
That is not done. The devil’s minions do not what that damage to stop. They understand that cumulative brain damage, no matter how minute, reduces the effectiveness of the human brain. Soccer dumbs down everyone involved, especially the smarter kids.
Evil does not like intelligence. Hitting hard soccer balls with their heads makes hundreds of millions of middle-class children far less able to do well than they would have otherwise been. After they are dumbed-down, they are dragged down, unable to solve problems as effectively as they could have if child abusers had not damaged their brains by having hard soccer balls slamming endlessly into their heads.
That’s why soccer is beloved by the dumb and the damned. It seems more popular with Democrats than Republicans, though, on analysis, it is usually Democrats behind the process by which so many Republican children’s minds are weakened.
To many leftists, soccer is a “fairness issue” by which those pesky smart people can be brought to lower levels of achievement and accomplishment. There are lots of reasons why soccer is beloved by the dumb and the damned.

What a load of unprovable BS. This “Leftist” is smart enough to know that soccer isn’t the only game out there. You clearly have an agenda in this article not backed up by scientific results.
Republicans like games like football and softball where kids are knocked unconscious.
Soccer is the only game that targets children’s brains with endless, mini-concussion producing impacts with large, hard soccer balls. Dumbed-down kids are more easily make dependent, so soccer is loved by the left.
Except maybe rugby, american football, karate, taekwondo, kendo and cricket, for example. I’m no great lover of the sport, but were your parents eaten by a football, or something?
No. They were not overly interested in sports. Now, in my sixties, I find myself walking, seeing, hearing, and sometimes thinking better than those who hurt themselves in meaningless sports activities. Many times, joints don’t show the effects until we’re old enough to wish we hadn’t sacrificed so much for so little when we were younger and more easily bamboozled.
Keep talking. The more people can hear how insane you are, the less work humanity has to do cleaning up your batshit…
Eric, you may find that you communicate more effectively without being profane. Have you been a soccer player? Did you head the ball often? Is that why you use profanity and call people names?
Football, that which you call ‘soccer’, is a very popular destructive past time in Catholic-dominated countries.
Does ‘heading’ a football lead to the embrace of Catholicism as a spiritual construct, or does internalising the doctrine of Catholicism lead to the desire to ‘head’ footballs until one is stupefied?
Soccer is popular in many Catholic countries. It is amazing that The Church does not condemn the “heading” part of soccer that damages the minds of so many people who would otherwise be smarter and more successful. But, it may be that the increased popularity of soccer has damaged so many minds that Church attendance is decreasing. Why? People who head soccer balls lose the ability to think clearly about complicated issues like salation. Who, but destructive demons, could be in favor of having millions of people damage their brains by heading soccer balls. It’s so hurtful, and so obvious, that one wonders if it is possible for a soccer coach to get to Heaven.
You did not answer my question.
American Football.
Brain damage would explain why football is so incredibly popular in nations with large Catholic populations.
Thanks for proving once again that religion is a cancer on humanity.
Some religions may be a cancer on humanity. Christians are told to love God and their neighbors as themselves. It’s hard to see any malignancy there.
Most sports injure the players in one way or another. There is a current controversy in American football about the concussion problem. But to try to blame it on some sort of ant-Christian conspiracy is simply unevidenced and paranoid. It’s the religious, not the atheists or anti-religionists, who engage in these sorts of conspiracies to undermine education–especially science education-and generally demonize intellectuals, scientists, and philosophers.
It is the Judeo-Christian-Muslim branch of world religion, especially, that has been attacking education, attempting to rewrite science, history, economics, and political science to further their agendas. Once science and philosophy started giving answers the religious didn’t like, it became the enemy, and since then private “schools” (I use the term loosely), home-”schooling” (I use this one even more loosely), and attempts to force evolutionary science, biology, archaeology, and cosmology curricula to conform to the tenets of religion, rather than changing their beliefs according to evidence, reason, and objective, non-biased reporting.
So to blame the “dumbing down” of our children on some sort of demonic conspiracy is nothing but a transparent attempt to shift the blame away from yourselves. Your kind are ones trying to selectively make sure children are misinformed, close-minded, and put blind faith in religious leaders ahead of simple logic and reason. On top of that, Catholics, specifically, can’t seem to keep your hands off the kids that are put under your care.
If the world actually was against your religion–or even withdrew the special privileges it enjoys and judged the clergy fairly and equally under the law–many of your priests, bishops, et al would be in prison right now, finding out exactly how child molesters are treated by adults when no one is intimidated by threats of Hell.
So how about this…the rest of us sane folks will attempt to work to make sports safer (which many of us are already doing, it’s just that American football is far more dangerous and prevalent here than soccer), especially for brains, and you will stop undermining science and education, misinforming children in lieu of real schooling, and covering up for child rapists and pretending the law doesn’t apply to the clergy. Deal? After all…it’s what’s best for the children.
It would be very easy to make soccer safer: Just make it against the rules to head the ball. That would reduce the long-term mental disabilities that can’t help but happen. But, there is an evil viciousness in soccer that seems to say: “I have headed soccer balls for years, and I simply can’t admit that it’s made me dumber than I’d otherwise be. So, I pretend I’m smart and not headed for early dementia. Part of the pretence involves getting the next generations to destroy their brains, too. But, I will get angry if you call be a child-abuser.”
The 2010 World Cup in South Africa was won by Spain. A Catholic country.
Before then, your previous pope, John Paul II – before he even entered the priesthood – was a goalkeeper in a football team. Loved watching it on TV, even when he became Pope. I’d say that little factoid in itself is as much as near as dammit a Papal Bull as to his approval of the sport, wouldn’t you say eh, Catholic Fundamentalism? And – as you’re a Catholic Fundamentalist, you’d agree that the Pope is infallible, whose words are virtually Holy Writ, and can never be questioned. Amirite?!
Enjoy your paradox. And your argument is invalid.
NO! Brain damage from heading soccer balls is real. If you don’t believe me, take your computer outside, put it under a third story window, and drop a soccer ball on it. Do that several times. Then, see how the computer works. Then, we’ll see if you value your computer more than your child’s brain.
Is this meant to be a slur against the former pope John Paul II, who was a goal keeper in his youth? If so, does the brain injury caused by the ball explain his enthusiastic protection of priests who rape children?
NO! Goal keepers are allowed to use their hands. Pope John Paul II had the ONLY position on the soccer field that allowed him to keep his brain from being destroyed by countless mini-concussions caused by heading the large, fast-moving ball. That’s a problem invisible to those who have headed a soccer ball too many times.
Wow….just….wow. This article is so poorly contrived that it’s actually funny. Tell me, Catholic Fundamentalism, could you point me to any scientific data that backs up these claims? Oh! I am sorry….science is the devil, right? Ok, hmm….quite a conundrum we have here….you’ve made facetious claims, and will reject any logical counter argument as being “of the devil”. Although, I don’t know why I am surprised, considering this is the default response for basically all ridiculous claims made by religious extremists. This article is DISingenuous, DISreputable, and generally DISgusting. But hey, thanks for the laughs.
Actually, there is a lot of evidence. Just google “brain damage soccer”. You’ll find most of the Culture of Death whitewashes the problem, but that it is real. The Culture of Death prefers brain damage. Makes people easier to control. Are Democrats more likely to push soccer?
I think the real reason loony here argues against soccer is this “It seems more popular with Democrats than Republicans,…”
If it was the reverse you’d be arguing that soccer is a great game. What a twit.
I think it’s more popular with Democrats because they need people who are intellectually unable to look at past failures and see that they only produce future failures. Soccer dumbs people down so they have to live in the present. Which is where all leftists, not just Democrats live. Republicans have enough sense not to have their children damaging their brains with countless mini-concussions. As this site says, take your computer, or i-pad, or whatever, and drop a soccer ball on it from an attic window a few hundred times. Don’t want to do that? Think more of your possessions than kids’ minds?
I played soccer as a kid. I was very involved but very uncoordinated, got the wind knocked out of me and hit my head a lot. I never did receive an head injury, however. This article seems overly imaginative and pointlessly drama-spinning to me.
Incidentally, in countries where it is most popular and probably the most physically dangerous on various levels, it is not even called soccer. It is called football. I suggest you do more actual research if you feel strongly about espousing your views.
Simone, thanks for your thoughtful post. The problem, now causing lawsuits in professional football, comes from people who receive long series of “mini-concussions”. The cumulative damage they do to the brain, especially in young people, is AWFUL.
No one involved in kid soccer seems to care that the large, hard soccer balls slamming into the kids’ heads is damaging the delicate brains, ears, and eyes within. It is the worst sort of child abuse, approved by those who prefer that citizens be less able to think intelligently. Disagree? Then, take your computer outside and drop a soccer ball on it from a third story window. Then, look at the broken computer and pretend that the damage done by such a blow to a child’s brain isn’t there.
