The Book of Revelation mentions “Nicolaitans” in Pergamum. They were early Profiteers of Protestantism. They begin to answer the question: Why have people been attacking The Catholic Church for two thousand years?
Other Protestants emerged. Arians made money by taking over entire nations and peoples. Arianism was destroyed after King Reccared’s became a Catholic in 587 AD.

A thousand years later, in 1534, The Catholic Church would not allow King Henry VIII to divorce his legal wife. Advisors appealed to his vanity. “You should take over The Church in England!”
Why did they want him to do that? “The King has the power to confiscate Catholic property! He can give it to us!”
That’s what happened! In the previous thousand years, The Catholic Church had inherited a lot of property. 20 million acres supported Catholic churches, charities, schools, hospitals, universities, monasteries, convents, and accommodations for the poor.
That stopped! Assets that had helped poor and working families went to enrich The Profiteers of Protestantism. Henry’s advisors ended up owning one third of England!
Without The Catholic Church, Henry’s new billionaires ran everything!
Soon, they made it illegal to be Catholic! Catholics were hunted down. Their property was confiscated. Over 70,000 of England’s Catholics were killed for being “too Catholic”. Many more lost their jobs, land, and livelihoods.
Greedy people re-learned a lesson they still remember! “It pays to destroy The Catholic Church! We get rich and we don’t have The Catholic Church stopping us from subjugating our subjects!”
The old question has the same answer. Why have people been attacking The Catholic Church for two thousand years?

We learn something else with a question. “How did Henry keep The English people quiet?” His supporters invented a “fake church”. Its “fake priests” provided “fake communion” in buildings they had stolen from The Catholic Church.
Today, tyrants don’t even pretend to believe that God will judge their souls.

Catholics know why oppression and tyranny are allowed to rule. In every age, God tests us. We all pray He will bless our souls with the strength to live and die in obedience to Him.
Catholics remember. God did save His Catholic people with King Reccared!
