Today’s Reading, from Wisdom: 13, 1-9. Offers an Example of Catholic Fundamentalism’s Approach to Reading Scripture:

” . . . though they seek God and wish to find him.
For they search busily among his works,
but are distracted by what they see, because the things seen are fair.
But again, not even these are pardonable.
For if they so far succeeded in knowledge
that they could speculate about the world,
how did they not more quickly find its Lord?”

When we look at that passage in terms of Current Technology Translation, we see “the fair things” within The Creation Program. It’s is obvious to us. Those who focus on programmed entities, rather than on He Who programmed them, have gone astray by searching “busily” for everything except The Loving Programmer. They “are distracted by what they see” because what we see is so wonderful.

Excessively focusing on things and happenings within The Program is as big a mistake as can be made. There are, within the human endeavors that make up part of The Creation Program, vast structures that have been downloaded simply to encourage people to “search busily” while avoiding He Who wrote The Program and had it downloaded. Such vain, self-centered groups include the usual nature-lovers, earth-worshippers, environmentalists, tax-seekers, and do-gooding schemers of every time and place.

Scripture tells us that those distracted by sub-programs in The Creation Program have committed a sin that is not “pardonable”. They could have searched a little farther and found The Loving Programmer, but they freely chose not to do so.

They will pay for that mistake forever. At the height of vanity, some intend going to Judgment with the notion that they’re going to tell The Programmer just how wrong He is about things. “Wailing and gnashing of teeth” accompanies such souls forever.
