Catholic Fundamentalism realizes that human programming skills have been increasing. Mankind began by altering shapes. Then, alloys like bronze allowed some mastery of molecules and atomic rearrangements.
Since the late 1800s, humans have been able to utilize electron flow. Some of its first economic victims were Pony Express riders, whose expensive trips were replaced by miles of copper wire.
Programming with electron flows allowed every form of modern communication to take place. Now, that programming is accessible through the air with even fewer molecular and atomic arrangements of copper being necessary. In the process, all the old, molecule and atom rearrangements that produced paper, ink, magazines, and books are made increasingly extinct. Many of those skills are now as useless as those possessed by Pony Express riders.
The old economics based on rearranging molecules and atoms, bricks and mortar, driving and shopping has been destroyed. There has never been such a global upheaval. At the same time, the ever-less labor needed to produce every good and service is moving to the least expensive production.
Everywhere we look, jobs are disappearing. The future seems bright for those who control electron flow, but dimmer dimmer those entrapped by rearranging molecules and atoms.
One area of the economy that’s about to suffer huge dislocation is education. Cyber-schools already take many smarter students away from the old, tired, bricks & mortar system. It’s about time. In “higher” education, universities are already beginning to feel the pinch of similar progress.
All over the world, threatened bureaucrats are uniting to fight. Their enemy? Progress.
