Political Correctness and Truth

Political Correctness has always been a part of history and literature. Today, we can’t read anything without being bombarded by the oppression of non-White groups. Within groups of White people, heterosexual males are generally castigated. White women, girls, and lesbians are exalted in the popular culture, which encourages them to vote in a way that supports minorities because they believe themselves to be so thoroughly “enlightened”.

A hundred years ago, White people of English and Scottish backgrounds thought themselves to be better than other Caucasians. White people who identify themselves as Jewish routinely believe themselves to be superior.

During the 17-18-1900s, Protestants believed themselves to be better than Catholics. Most literature of the time reflects that belief, as do histories and diaries. For instance, history books often record that Spanish conquistadors were brutal to the Indians, while Protestants treated them with kindly mercy.

In that period, expansion was Politically Correct. Factories, mines, railroads, and farms were encouraged, because growth and prosperity was the political correctness of the age. Now, every single such enterprise and activity is under endless attack by any number of politically correct governments, organizations, and people. Human industry has changed from admirable to despicable.

In every age and nation, truth is undermined and twisted by those in a position to control communications. The truth is, when we “subtract” for political correctness in our reading, we get closer to truth.

It may be that there has been, or is, some rare time and place in which truth is politically correct. Such a spot does not, it appears, exist this side of Heaven.
