The Church’s Readings of Today and Tomorrow are the Foundation of Catholic Fundamentalism:

Catholic Fundamentalism began by thinking of God as The Loving Programmer, and went on to understand that He programmed energies and particles into being.  After that, He compiled those basic programs into structures.  Then, beings.  That realization may encourage us to then translate the old, Iron Age words in Church and Scripture into words from our own age.  That makes it easier to relate to Him and what He did.  If we’re lucky, that view of the world will help us live in such a way that we make it into Heaven.

Gn1:1-19

In the beginning, when God created (when The Loving Programmer programmed) the heavens and the earth, (He programmed spirit and matter into being.)
the earth was a formless wasteland, and darkness covered the abyss,
while a mighty wind (He began with vague, unseen possibilities and an unfocused energy.) swept over the waters.

Then God said,
“Let there be light,” and there was light.  (At His Word, The Loving Programmer’s Energy Program was downloaded as the energy spectrum.)
God saw how good the light was.  (The first part of His Program worked!)
God then separated the light from the darkness. (He programmed the first binary code, an amazing, incredible step forward from the vague nothingness that preceded this, His second organizing download.)
God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.”  (After the first part of The Creation Program was downloaded, He named those two lines of code.)
Thus evening came, and morning followed–the first day.  (The first part of The Creation Program ran.  The universe, in which there was light and darkness, began to be downloaded.)

Then God said,  (The Programmer only had to speak to bring His program into being.  This may imply that He was speaking to the angels, His holy Programming Assistants, who did the wondrous work of putting His Words into reality, bringing The Creation Program into physical existence as His Word called it into being.  Those Living Energies were the first, or among the first, things He programmed.)
“Let there be a dome in the middle of the waters,
to separate one body of water from the other.”
And so it happened:
God made the dome,
and it separated the water above the dome from the water below it.  (The liquids and gases were programmed to be two separate, but related things, and put in place within The Creation Program.  We see this separation in the meniscus layer that lets waterbugs walk on water)
God called the dome “the sky.”  (He named the part of The Creation Program that we human programs would later describe as “gasses”.  In that process, the atoms and molecules that would form the gases were programmed to be what they were, and the future human programs would describe some of their characteristics with names like “Boyle’s Law of Expanding Gases”.  The parts of the program had to be predictable and consistent enough for the soon-to-be downloaded human programs to utilize.  They also had to be downloaded in such a way that their origin could be later attributed by vainer humans to “accident”.)
Evening came, and morning followed–the second day.  (The Creation Program was running according to The Programmer’s will!)

Then God said,
“Let the water under the sky be gathered into a single basin,
so that the dry land may appear.”
And so it happened:
the water under the sky was gathered into its basin,
and the dry land appeared.
God called the dry land “the earth,”
and the basin of the water he called “the sea.”
God saw how good it was.  (He had programmed and downloaded solids, the third component of The Creation Program.  He put the solids into their places among the gasses and liquids.  Solids, liquids, and gasses physically reflect His Trinitarian Being that underlies the vastness of The Creation Program.)
Then God said,
“Let the earth bring forth vegetation:
every kind of plant that bears seed
and every kind of fruit tree on earth
that bears fruit with its seed in it.”
And so it happened:
the earth brought forth every kind of plant that bears seed
and every kind of fruit tree on earth that
bears fruit with its seed in it.  (God, The Loving Programmer, programmed the first replicating programs– living beings.  These were incredibly complicated programs.  When they realized what they were doing, the angelic programming assistants were absolutely stunned.  Suddenly, the underlying solids, liquids and gasses could be programmed into living, self-replicating programs.)
God saw how good it was.  (Wow!  That program ran the way He programmed it to run!)
Evening came, and morning followed–the third day.

Then God said:
“Let there be lights in the dome of the sky,
to separate day from night.
Let them mark the fixed times, the days and the years,
and serve as luminaries in the dome of the sky,
to shed light upon the earth.”  (After The Loving Programmer had the programs running, He programmed and downloaded huge, automated power supplies, like the sun, to make sure that the necessary energy for His living programs would be automatically supplied.  As with all His Programs, He had such entities downloaded in such a way that it could be thought that they appeared by accident.)
And so it happened:
God made the two great lights,
the greater one to govern the day,
and the lesser one to govern the night;
and he made the stars.
God set them in the dome of the sky,
to shed light upon the earth,
to govern the day and the night,
and to separate the light from the darkness.  (Not only did The Loving Programmer download power sources, but also, He did so in such a way that there was order and regularity among the energy producing and energy reflecting programs far away.  Energy Producing and Transmitting Programs were compiled with Regularity Programs to be sure that the life programs ran according to schedule.)
God saw how good it was.
Evening came, and morning followed–the fourth day.

Tuesday, February 8, 2011 (Today’s Reading continued from yesterday’s Reading and Catholic Fundamentalism interpretation.)

Gn 1:20-2:4a

God said,
“Let the water teem with an abundance of living creatures,
and on the earth let birds fly beneath the dome of the sky.”
And so it happened:  (The Loving Programmer had gone beyond the Plant Programs of the Third Programming Session.  His new living programs were able to move!  They were conscious and aware and self-replicating, reflecting the amazingly complicated and condensed programs with which they operated.  They moved among the solid, liquid, and gas programs and were made of them.)
God created the great sea monsters
and all kinds of swimming creatures with which the water teems,
and all kinds of winged birds.
God saw how good it was, and God blessed them, saying,
“Be fertile, multiply, and fill the water of the seas;
and let the birds multiply on the earth.”  (All their replicating programs worked!)
Evening came, and morning followed–the fifth day.

Then God said,
“Let the earth bring forth all kinds of living creatures:
cattle, creeping things, and wild animals of all kinds.”
And so it happened:
God made all kinds of wild animals, all kinds of cattle,
and all kinds of creeping things of the earth.
God saw how good it was.  (The Loving Programmer programmed living, self-replicating programs that could maintain body temperatures as they spread over the Earth Program.  These more complicated programs had larger processing units that computed and made choices, as whether to eat tree leaves or leaves of grass when both were nearby.  This sort of primitive “thinking” would be greatly improved on the being to be downloaded the following day.)
Then God said:
“Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.  (We, the Trinity, are going to program a being that is like us, in that he will be able to do programming.  This being must have free will so that he can choose what he will do.  The entire Creation Program was written and downloaded to give him so much free will that he can even choose not to believe that I, the Loving Programmer, programmed it for him.)
Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea,
the birds of the air, and the cattle,
and over all the wild animals
and all the creatures that crawl on the ground.”  (The free-will creature will rule all the other creatures, using them as he likes.  Will some of them be earthly versions of angels?)

God created man in his image;  (The Loving Programmer programmed the free-will creature with many of His abilities, but in a reduced form.)
in the divine image he created him;
male and female he created them.

God blessed them, saying:
“Be fertile and multiply;
fill the earth and subdue it.
Have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air,
and all the living things that move on the earth.”  (The Programmer’s most complicated program was us human beings, creatures with free will.)
God also said:
“See, I give you every seed-bearing plant all over the earth
and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit on it to be your food;
and to all the animals of the land, all the birds of the air,
and all the living creatures that crawl on the ground,
I give all the green plants for food.”  (“You have all that you need to do the human programming that your abilities allow.  You cannot program something out of nothing but your own will, as I can, but you can do reasonably complicated re-programming with the things that I have programmed for you.”)
And so it happened.
God looked at everything he had made, and he found it very good.  (His programs worked perfectly.)
Evening came, and morning followed–the sixth day.

Thus the heavens and the earth and all their array were completed.
Since on the seventh day God was finished with the work he had been doing,
he rested on the seventh day from all the work he had undertaken.
So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy,
because on it he rested from all the work he had done in creation.

Such is the story of the heavens and the earth at their creation.  (He, Who programmed everything that is into existence, had written the entirely of, and downloaded the beginning part of the Creation Program.  The speed with which we believe He did it indicates how powerful we believe Him to be.  Some believe that He downloaded The Creation Program in six days.  Others prefer to believe that it took far, far longer.)
