Oneanity vs. Inanity

Today’s date, 1/1/11, has more ones in it until any date until 1/11/11. That date’s number of ones will only be eclipsed by the six ones that will appear if The Creation Program runs as long as next November’s 11/11/11, a date that seems to have the largest number of the same digits between the day that appeared precisely a hundred years before it and that which will appear exactly a hundred years from that day.

There are a tiny number of people, idiot savants, who are able to calculate days and dates exactly in their heads. It’s likely that the Babylonian and Egyptian astronomers and calendar developers kept a few of them around the temples to help keep track of things. They didn’t eat much, and had few other skills, so they were not expensive to maintain, even over the course of several centuries of astronomical observations.

The upcoming 11/11/11 is going to be on a Friday. I confess to neither knowing what day of the week the earlier 11/11/11 fell upon nor what day the next will appear. I have e-mailed to ask several enlightened liberals, widely thought to be qualified to answer, but discovered that none had “savant” following the adjective by which they were most widely known, rendering them unable to provide any useful goods or service.
