Where Do Mistakes Originate?

Where Do Mistakes Originate

We’ve all thought, said, and done some remarkably stupid and insensitive things. Afterwards, there’s a tendency to ask ourselves, “How could I have been so wrong?”

When we examine the hurtful things we’ve thought, said, and done, a process that’s encouraged by Confession, or by confessing, there’s usually a recognizable pattern: we wanted to show that we are better and more important than other people.

In fact, much of what we think, say, and do is designed to impress others. We want to be more than we are.

“I” usually precedes every error we make. So, when we catch ourselves saying “I”, or acting as if our “I” is the most important thing in the world, we may be able to keep ourselves from doing something we may regret for a very long time.
