The best advice is to get the best advice.

Lots of young people were advised to “Go to college!”, and they went to college.  Some, out of a love of learning.  Others, because they were too lazy to get jobs that required risk and hard work.  Many thought that a college degree was a ticket to a government job.  Once, it was.  Half of the last two or three years’ college graduates are unemployed.  They got lots of bad advice.  They didn’t question the motives of those who gave it.

Now, lots of baby boomer graduates are getting Social Security.  They are surprised to find that their government deducts money from their Social Security to repay their student loans.

Many of the same people who went into debt for useless degrees also followed the advice, “Buy a house!”  Many bought at the peaks of housing prices.  Then, in the brief years of the bubble, they followed advice to borrow more for swimming pools, new kitchens, and take much-needed vacations to recover from their hard work.

Then, reality hit.  Bankruptcy was the only option.  Some will never recover from the loans on which they defaulted.

In both cases, borrowing for too-expensive degrees and houses, people were given lots of bad advice.  Then, they followed it.

The best possible advice comes from The Holy Spirit.  The best possible advice is to get His advice.  And, follow it.
