A way to cut tuition costs at state colleges and universities.

State Universities began as a way to “provide education to everyone, not just the rich.”

Now, those employed at State Universities and public colleges are rich.  Their tenure, pensions, salaries, and benefits provide wealth beyond what most of us will ever have.  Too many students and taxpayers are too poor to go on paying.

One state has a way to cut tuition costs at state colleges and universities.  In Texas, students can get a Bachelor’s Degree for $10,000.00.  Texas students don’t have as much student debt.  And, more kids will graduate, rather than wasting years working on degrees they’ll never get in fields where there are no jobs.

Other states don’t have what Texas does–legislators who care about students more than about feeding the big, university-associated employee groups.

So, a State Legislator who cares might consider a law:  “Be it resolved:  In Pennsylvania (or whatever state) there will be a tuition program available to very student at every state college and university at a cost and quality equal to, or better, than programs provided by any other state.”

Since the state schools don’t want to reduce costs, there has to be some compulsion.  Such a short, simple bill would do the job.  Every citizen would benefit from this,  a way to cut tuition costs at state colleges and universities.
