One big,overlooked advantage to automation

Lots of people are worried about the effects of automation on employment.  And, with good reason.  The latest unemployment numbers are definitely up.  As more automation is incorporated into goods and services, more jobs will be lost.

But, the goods and services produced and provided will also increase.  In the overview, there is more for everyone with less effort.

Distribution systems will have to allow for that, providing ever greater benefits to the jobless.

One big, overlooked advantage to automation is that it provides more time for prayer.  The jobless could be saying a dozen or so Rosaries a day.  They could be praying for themselves and their neighbors.  Automation allows whole groups of people to become as holy as the handful of monks, brothers, and sisters who prayed Europe to safety for a thousand years.

So, when people say that progress is going too far, we may reply that “One, big, overlooked advantage to automation is that it gives more poeple more time to pray.   What can be better than that?  How can anything compare in importance to getting more people get into Heaven than ever.”

It’s not popular now, but when bureaucrats realize that they, themselves, may also be helped by having people praying, especially for them, it does provide meaning to progress.  Smarter ones may encourage more prayer.

Providing eternal bliss for more souls than at any time in history is important.
