Perspective and proportion are important.

A school bus accident killing thirty students would have been a great tragedy.  Should an airplane have crashed on a school, killing two or three thousands students, the tragedy would have been far, far greater.

Yesterday, between two and three thousand children were killed in the United States.  They were unborn.  Not a single one was mentioned on the evening news.  Today, 28 people, mostly children, were killed by a homocidal maniac while they were in school.

Perspective and proportion are important.  One tragedy should not allow us to forget another.
