Many Catholic souls are saved by our Forty Days of Lent.

Question 1: “What do we learn from Jonah 3:1-10?”
Answer: “We learn that when Jonah began to warn the people of Nineveh their city was going to be destroyed in 40 days, ‘They proclaimed a fast and all of them, great and small, put on sackcloth.’”
~
Question 2: “Did even their leaders repent?”
Answer: “They did more! ‘The King and his nobles agreed: “Neither man nor beast, neither cattle nor sheep, shall taste anything; they shall not eat, nor shall they drink water. Man and beast shall be covered with sackcloth and call loudly to God: every man shall turn from his evil way and from the violence he has in hand.'”

Question 3: “God forgave Nineveh when they repented. Will He forgive us?”
Answer: “Today’s Psalm 51:3-4, 12-13, 18-19 makes it clear: ‘A heart contrite and humbled, O God, you will never spurn.’ Joel 2:12-13 makes it clearer: ‘Even now, says The Lord, return to me with your whole heart for I am gracious and merciful.’”

Question 4: “Does God make it clear for Catholics?”
Answer: “Jesus tells us to ‘Be Catholic!’ in Luke 11:29-32. ‘This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah. Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation.’”
~
Question 5: “What was the ‘sign of Jonah’ Jesus died to leave those who would be saved?”
Answer: “Jonah spent three days in the belly of the fish. Jesus spent three days in hell before rising on the third day. The New Testament record of His Resurrection and Ascension into Heaven is the ‘sign of Jonah’ given to us by Jesus.
Only Catholics obey The Church-Creating Word of Jesus to His First Catholic Pope: ‘And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.’”
~
Question 6: “Do only Catholics know ‘God’s sign’?”
Answer: “Some are ‘Catholic enough to understand’: ‘At the Judgment, the queen of the south will rise with the men of this generation and she will condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon and there is something greater than Solomon here.’
Others will be condemning those who reject any Words of Jesus. ‘At the judgment, the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because at the preaching of Jonah they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here.’”

Today’s Simple Rhyme: “Jonah returned from the belly of a fish. / Jesus returns in His Communion dish.”
