The Trinitarian Revelation in John 13:31
Today’s Gospel reading from John 13:31 reveals a powerful truth. It happens just after Judas leaves to betray Jesus. At that moment, Jesus says, *“Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him.”
Here, Jesus calls Himself the “Son of Man.” This title points to His divine mission. The “glorification” means more than honor. It shows the deep love and unity between the Father and the Son. This moment marks a turning point in the divine plan.
The Role of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit isn’t named in this verse, but His presence is real. Catholic teaching explains that He proceeds from the Father and the Son. He is the love between them.
Therefore, when the Father and Son are glorified, the Holy Spirit is involved. Later, Jesus will send Him to guide the Church. Even now, the Holy Spirit sanctifies us through the sacraments and the Word.
