Another indication that The Holy Trinity visited Abraham:

A Catholic Question! Did The Holy Trinity OR God's Angels come to Abraham AND save Lot and his daughters?

Two days ago, The Daily Reading included Genesis 18:1-15.  It seemed reasonable to consider that The LORD appeared to Abraham in The Three Persons of The Holy Trinity.   After confirming that Abraham would be “the Father of a Multitude”, the “three men go to judge Sodom and Gomorrah”, cities ruled by sinful people in Genesis 18:16-33.

Were “the three men” the Holy Trinity in Human Forms?  Did The Son and Holy Spirit destroy Sodom and Gomorrah while The Father spoke with Abraham and listened to him plead for mercy, “if only ten innocent people” are in those cities.

Tomorrow’s Reading lets us see God’s Mercy saved only four people, Lot, his wife, and two daughters. In Genesis 19, we see the destroyers identified both as two “men” and two “angels“, which describes the human difficulty of seeing the Second and Third Persons of The Holy Trinity on earth.  Like Eve eating “the forbidden fruit”, Lot’s wife disobeyed the instruction “do not look back” and was turned into “a pillar of salt”.

Catholics know The Bible is Truth and that those things happened.  May all of us be blessed to “turn from sin” and “not look back”!

We are again prompted to consider The Three Men as The Holy Trinity working on Earth when we read in Gen. 19:29 that “Thus it was that when God destroyed the towns of the plain, He kept Abraham in mind and rescued Lot out of disaster.”

Catholics can think about The Holy Trinity coming to earth and making Abraham “the Father of a Multitude” by “Upgrading His DNA”.  We see that He destroyed those who hated God and their neighbors so Jesus could be born in Bethlehem of The Virgin Mary 2,000 years later, when The Holy Trinity returned to earth, again in Human Form.
