Genesis 16: 1-7 and 16-28 has 7 Old Testament Prophesies:
“Israel set out with all that was his. (Jacob and his family were going to join Joseph in Egypt around 1728 BC.) When he arrived at Beer-sheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father, Isaac. God spoke to Israel in a vision at night, calling, “Jacob! Jacob!”
Jacob answered, “Here I am.” Then God said: “I am God, the God of your father (Isaac, son of Abraham, received Prophesy #1): Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make you a great nation. (Prophesy #2): I will not only go down to Egypt with you; (Prophesy #3): but also I will bring you back here, after Joseph has closed your eyes.”
So Jacob left Beer-sheba. The sons of Israel put their father and all their wives and children on the wagons that Pharaoh had sent for them. They took with them their livestock and the possessions they had acquired in the land of Canaan. That is how Jacob and all his descendants migrated to Egypt. Jacob took all his descendants, his sons and his grandsons, daughters and granddaughters, to Egypt.
Israel (Jacob) sent Judah ahead to meet Joseph in Goshen. On arriving in the region of Goshen, Joseph hitched horses to his chariot and rode to meet his father in Goshen. The moment Joseph saw him, he flung himself on his neck and wept a long time in his arms. His father said to Joseph, (Prophesy #4): “Finally, I can die, now that I have seen for myself that Joseph is still alive.”
More Propecies in Psalm 37:34, 18-19, 25-28, 39-4o tell God’s People: “The Salvation of the just comes from The LORD”:
We are told to “Trust in the LORD and do good, (Prophesy #5): that you may dwell in the land and be fed in security. Take delight in The LORD and He will grant you your heart’s requests because The LORD watches over the lives of the wholehearted; (Prophesy #6): their inheritance will last forever. They are not put to shame in an evil time; in days of famine they will have plenty.”
Then, God tells us (Prophesy #7): “Turn from evil and do good, that you may live forever; For The LORD loves what is right, and never forsakes His faithful ones. The salvation of the just is from The LORD; He is their refuge in time of distress. And the LORD helps them and delivers them; (Prophecy 8): He delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in Him.”
Catholics say “Alleluia!” when we hear God’s Advice in John 16:13-14 in (Prophesy #9): “When the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you to all truth and remind you of all I told you.”
These words of Jesus give us more New Testament Prophecies in Today’s Gospel, Mt. 10:16-2. They are worthy of serious consideration:
“Jesus spoke These Words to his Apostles: (Prophecy #10): ‘Behold, I am sending you like sheep among wolves; you must be as shrewd as serpents and simple as doves.’ (Prophecy #11): ‘But beware of men, for they will hand you over to courts and scourge you in their synagogues, and you will be led before governors and kings for my sake as a witness before them and the pagans.’
Jesus tells us what to do when those Prophecies come true in our lives. (Prophecy #12): ‘You will be given at that moment what you are to say. For it will not be you who speak but (Prophecy #13 predicts the coming of The Holy Spirit after the Ascension of Jesus): the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.’ Prophecy #14 follows: ‘Brother will hand over brother to death, and the father his child (predicts legalized abortion in formerly Catholic nations, after which (Prophecy #15): ‘children will rise up against parents and have them put to death. (Killing old people is increasingly encouraged by the “children” who want the money that used to flow to older “parents” through public and private pension payments.) (Prophecy #16): ‘You will be hated by all because of My name.’ (The more Catholic we are, the more we are “hated” by self-centered people.) (Prophecy #17): ‘But whoever endures to the end will be saved.’ (Prophecy #18): When they persecute you in one town, flee to another.’
Today’s Reading ends with Prophecy #19: ‘Amen, I say to you, you will not finish the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.'” Does that connect The Time of His Second Coming to what is happening right now? Armed forces are attacking Taybeth, the last remaining Christian town in Israel. Catholics realize Prophecy #18 has come true: there is no longer “one town” left in Israel to which Christians may “flee”.
May all be blessed to see how perfectly He Who Fulfilled The Prophesies predicted what is happening today.
