Most of us spend our lives doing things that our neighbors think are important and valuable enough that we are freely given money for doing them. Others spend their lives doing things that are as useless as they are destructive.

When we consider the teaching profession, we see both kinds of jobs. We see people doing the vital work of teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic. At the very same time, we see lots of people engaged in all kinds of utterly useless and harmful activities, “helping” in one strange way or another to impose an alternative morality on our country.

Good and useful jobs involve the exchange of goods and services in a free market. Truth and rational thought are important parts of those occupations. Bad and destructive jobs involve taking money at gunpoint from some people and giving it to others. They are dependent on lies and deceptions.
