The First Catholic Pope gave us a guide for life in 1 Peter 2:2-5 & 9-12: “Beloved: Like newborn infants, long for pure spiritual milk, so that through it you may grow into salvation, for you have tasted that The Lord is good.”
Catholics know The Lord’s “Beloved, newborn infants” cannot have “pure spiritual milk” if we reject Any Word of Jesus. God’s New Testament Way for us to “grow into salvation” is to heed The Lord’s specific, Church-Creating Word to His First Catholic Pope:
“And I say unto you: ‘Thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.'”
May all be blessed to see The Only Church-Creating Word of Jesus, and understand that we best “grow into salvation” by “Being Catholic!”
Others choose to believe: “I know more than Jesus about how to ‘grow into salvation’. I do not want, and I do not need to ‘Be Catholic’.”
That vanity is in contradiction to The First Catholic Pope’s next instruction in Today’s Reading: “Come to Him, a living stone, rejected by human beings but chosen and precious in the sight of God, and, like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”
That passage prompts a simple question: “Is there a better reason to ‘Be Catholic!’ than to ‘let yourselves be built into a spiritual house’ and be blessed ‘to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.’?”
God’s “accepted spiritual sacrifices through Jesus Christ” include taking The Bible more seriously than human vanities. People who strive to “Be Catholic!” are “living stones” that are “built into a spiritual house”, God’s One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.
Catholics are blessed with God’s Protection from pride, envy, greed, gluttony, anger, lust, and sloth. They are the Seven Tribes of soul-devouring demons summed up in the new Catholic Word, “peggalas”!
Identifying those evils helps us heed what The First Pope taught in Today’s Catholic Reading: “Beloved, I urge you as aliens and sojourners to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against the soul.”!
Catholics are blessed to see more of He Who is in Today’s Alleluia, from John 8:12, “‘I am the light of the world.’, says The Lord; ‘Whover follows me will have the light of life.'” Is there a better reason to “Be Catholic!”?
Sadly, Christ’s clear call to “Be Catholic!” is rejected by many who believe, “I know more than Jesus about that! I choose to worship my beliefs.”
