An idol in the mirror.

When we look in a mirror, we see what we spend too much time thinking about. There is something in the being who’s reflected that makes us think too much about him. “I, I, I, Me.” sums up a great deal of our thinking.

“God, neighbor; God, neighbor.” is what saints say. As we insert more “God and neighbor” into our concerns, we find the mirror is reflecting a better person, one about whom we aren’t spending as much time thinking.
