No sunspots yesterday. A sign from the Heavens?

Usually, the half of the sun facing us is marked with big, black, blotchy spots.  Not today.

There is a positive correlation between sunspots and solar output.  There is also a correlation between solar output and the temperature of the planets.

In recent years, there have been lots of sunspots.  And, the temperatures of Earth, Mars, and Neptune have been rising.  When there are no sunspots, planetary temperatures begin to drop.   We can, if this “sunspotless” condition persists, predict a colder-than-average winter.

One wonders if the ancient astronomers of Egypt and Babylon made lenses from glass or rock crystal, smoked them, and were able predict weather by counting sunspots.
