We are told to love those who want to destroy us.

Today’s Reading is from John 10: 1-11. It includes this passage:
“The large crowd of the Jews found out that he was there and came, not only because of him, but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. And the chief priests plotted to kill Lazarus too, because many of the Jews were turning away and believing in Jesus because of him.”
One can imagine the meetings.
The most brutal of their leaders have decided: “We have to get rid of Jesus.”
Some at the meeting might protest. “What about Lazarus? What do we do with him?”
“We have to kill him, too.”
Those who recognize Jesus as the Fulfillment of The Prophets, on the other hand, are told to love those who want to destroy us.
In Today’s Reading, we see that those who love self more than neighbor are willing to kill Jesus, Lazarus, and, today, a billion unborn children. The other side likes death so much they willing to wipe out a living miracle, like Lazarus.
We must first understand: Many want to kill and/or enslave us. We are told to love those who want to destroy us. Thus does love become meaningful.
