Play these odds! 2

Catholic Fundamentalism finds it absolutely amazing that no one has looked at the odds about the reality of Jesus. When we do, we see that it is mathematically certain that He was the Son of God. Therefore, The Only Church He Founded makes more sense than anything else and it is utterly foolish to not be moving toward Catholicism

In Play these odds! 1, we looked at the statistical probability of Jesus NOT being the Promised One of God. We found that just three prophecies from Micah, Genesis, and Jeremiah indicate the odds that Jesus was The Messiah could be as high as 80,000,000 to one.

When we add “He shall be lifted up before men”, we see that He had to have died by hanging or crucifixion. But, “no bone of His would be broken”. He had to be crucified and die before His legs were broken to hasten death by suffocation. And, He had to have been scourged. “By His stripes (the ribbons of blood from the lash) you are healed.” further reinforce the odds. The Empire’s population was 45-50,000,000 at the time of Jesus. If ten thousand people were crucified in that period, then any person had a 1 in 5,000 chance of being crucified.

Most who were crucified hung, in agony, for days until death. Many were attacked by crows and vultures from above while ravenous dogs fought each other for the opportunity to get at the bleeding toes, feet, calves, and beyond. Few had their lives mercifully shortened by having their legs broken. If a thousand were so fortunate as to have their legs broken, He was among 1 in 50,000.

When we combine those incredible odds with Play these odds! 1, we see that the chances of Jesus NOT being The Messiah are 50 000 x 80 000 000 = 4 000 000 000 000. Statistically, the chances are one in four trillion that Jesus is NOT the promised Messiah.

The chances are one in four trillion that He was correct when He said “I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the Keys to The Kingdom of Heaven. What you bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven. . .”
We all use numbers every day. They are a guideline in making daily household and business decisions. So, why isn’t everyone a Catholic? If we can’t use numbers to find the certitude of Jesus, is something corrupting our minds to keep us from fully understanding “Yes, I use numbers in every area of my life, but not in saving my soul.”?

“Play these odds! 2” is a pretty good hint. Are the numbers off? They may be. They are reasonable estimates. But, even adjusted up or down by 10-20-30%, it is still miraculously close to a mathematical certainly that Jesus was The Messiah and that He told us to be Catholic.

Catholic Communion is the only way we can fully obey the instructions of He Whom the numbers indicate has a one in trillions chance of not being The Messiah.

It is a sign of intelligence and intellectual consistency to recognize that and strive to obey: “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.” and connect that with His orders at The Last Supper when they perfectly relate to: “This is My Body, take and eat.”
His instructions, from He Whom we see, by four trillion to one odds, is The Messiah, ought to be followed. And, they are, by His friends. We are overjoyed to consider “If you obey My commands you are My friends.”
Those who are not Catholic need to be. Start with prayer. And, “Play these odds!” If you choose not to, remember: He doesn’t have any dumb friends.
