Thank God for automation!

Pope Francis has outraged many with purported worries about environmental issues. Those with such concerns believe that Global Warming is a great danger.

Others think that environmental issues are excuses for taxing and regulating. “There are no real environmental problems. Every one of them, on investigation, is shown to be a fraud, an accident, or something harmless. Some, like the little boy who cried ‘Wolf!’ are simply looking for attention and funding. The leaders of the movement have made billions of dollars on such Imaginary Problems.”

Compounding the difficulty of understanding? Those who believe environmental issues like Global Warming are real problema do not have livelihoods producing useful things. This leads to the crux of The Problem.

Each passing year brings more automation. Fewer people are needed to provide goods and services. More people decide: “I cannot get a job doing anything useful. Those jobs are disappearing with each new robot. I must find some big, well-funded lie from which to profit, take advantage of government programs that do not fully understand that they are there to distribute the fruits of automation, or reduce my standard of living.”

The most venal of such fraudsters end up as university presidents and professors with ever more obscene salaries. Or, they head up “concerned groups”, each one spreading worries about some insane triviality that they milk relentlessly. Others get into public office.

The real solution to automation? Realize: “Hey, I no longer have to work as much. I can pray more. Instead of saying a Rosary on my way to work, I can say one every hour or so. I can help neighbors who could use my talents and be more Christlike in every way! Now, I have the opportunity to get my soul closer to God and increase my chances of getting into the eternal joy of Heaven. Thank God for automation!”
