The GodMan’s human nature

If we listen, we hear a lot of: “Then I said . . . “, “They don’t understand . . .”, “I told them . . .”, and “No one listens . . .”

Amazingly, we say those things to people who then begin their replies with similar comments. “Then I said. . .”, “They don’t understand. . . “, “I told them. . .”, and “No one listens. . .”

Each conversational phrase that begins with “Then I said. . .”, “They don’t understand. . .”, “I told them. . .”, or “No one listens. . .” is a plea for attention.

Knowledgeable people know most conversation is a plea for recognition.

There is one sentence that everyone in the world does want to hear: “Please, let me give you some money.” There is another: every single person in the world also wants to hear: “Please, let me give you some more money.”

Practicing Catholics are most able to rise above that basic understanding of our self-serving nature.

We are blessed with knowing that over three hundred prophecies include predictions that Jesus would be born in the Tribe of Judah in the House of David of a virgin in Bethlehem. A thousand years before He was born, we were told He would be “lifted up before men” while “no bone of His would be broken”. 300 more prophecies describing Him are beyond the possibility of coincidence. Those who are blessed conclude that Jesus is God. The more blessed the person, the more obedience to Jesus.

The GodMan founded One Church, saying clearly “Thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you The Keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.” He said of His Church and of those requesting help therefrom, “Those whose sins you forgive on earth are forgiven in Heaven.” That is why many believe and heed His clear statement of fact, “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.”

Scripture also foretells: Jesus will Judge our immortal souls. When we go before the Judge, we want Him smiling, not scowling. The GodMan’s human nature is such that He is happy to see His friends in His court. How do we get to be His friends? He told those whom He wanted in Heaven, “If you obey My commands you are My friends.”
Is there a better reason to be Catholic, eat His Body, drink His Blood, and have our sins forgiven?

Smarter people don’t waste as much time with “And then I said . . .”, “They don’t understand . . .”, “I told them . . .”, and “No one listens . . .” If we’re heading for Heaven, we are too busy obeying God so that He will look upon us as His friends.
