Lost souls, flies on flypaper

Flies stuck on flypaper are unappealing. Seeing one still alive, with feet stuck in the glue is particularly bothersome. It struggles to take flight, but cannot get “liftoff”. If we try to help, we make things worse. Its delicate legs simply come off the body.

We can’t provide assistance; the glue holds it down until it dies. The flypaper remains sticky for years. Sometimes, several successive generations of flies are stuck on the same semi-spiral.

When we see friends and neighbors drawn to a particularly bizarre Pastor Bobism, we may try to help. “Listen, the beliefs your Pastor Bob has concocted are wrong! They confuse and contradict basic Christian Doctrines. You simply cannot get into Heaven if you support a church that allows, much less celebrates, evils like abortion, divorce, fornication and artificial birth control.”

It helps to consider such souls as flies on flypaper. Sin weakens souls and lets them be drawn to evil. Once attached to evil, we cannot pull them away without hurting them. Lost souls, flies on flypaper.

Magnetic and electrical analogies help us understand those whose souls are stuck on sin. God has the power to reverse their polarity. His power, if brought to bear, can have them repelled by the sin that once attracted them.

Does He send an invisible beam, half laser/half magnet, slicing through the darkness into the lost soul to make it hate what it mistakenly loved so much it is freed from the attraction?. A more accurate view comes from The Only Church Jesus Founded. “Angels are pure, living energy. God often uses them to erase the impurities and reversed polarities that draw human souls to destruction.”

How do we get God to send a purifying angel to our self or to someone who needs to escape sin? We plead: “Dear God, a person dear to me has been drawn into destructive evil. Please, send a Purifying Angel to save that precious soul and life.”

How often do we ask? As long as we love.
