People ask:  What is “The Protestant Disorder”?  “The Protestant Disorder” appears in several variations of one vanity:  “I know better than Jesus!”  Some of the variations and their cures:

1. “I believe in Jesus, but I know what’s best for me.”

The cure begins with realizing that what’s “best for” anyone is to get into Heaven.  Jesus said that only the obedient may get into Heaven:  “You are My friends if you obey My commands.”  So, Catholics obey The Great Church-Founding Decree of Jesus:

“. . I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven. . .”

2. “Jesus wants me to feel good about myself.”

The cure begins with realizing that Jesus never said that!  What Jesus did teach was the terrifying consequence of willful disobedience to Him in John 3:36:  “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not OBEY the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God rests upon him.”  It is best to worry more about obeying than satisfying 0ur drives to disobedience.

3.  “Jesus wants me to have a ‘personal relationship’ with Him.”

The cure begins with recognizing such silly twaddle as Marketing Plan gimmicks.  They are appeals to a self-centered vanity that puts self ahead of Jesus.  That is the goal of every demon in the Pantheon of Vanity!

4.  “It doesn’t matter what church we’re in!  The important thing is to believe in Jesus!”

The cure begins with comprehending one basic fact.  Jesus could have re-appeared to any, or all, of the 45,000 ambitious men who turned their Marketing Plans into denominations.   He could have Personally given any of them “the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”  He did not.  What else do we need to know?
