“Don’t talk about that!”

We all remember Jonestown! It was a great tragedy. When it looked as if Jim Jones would have to stop telling the lies by which he made a living, he forced his followers to “drink the poisoned Kool-Aide.”

Nearly 400 men, women, and children died an agonizing death.

Protestants and Catholics recoil in horror from what Jim Jones did. All are offended that anyone would kill so many men, women, and children to get his own way.

An honest person must ask: “How many million unborn babies in the families of our congregations and clergy have been killed by abortion, pills, and implants?”

We do not like to think about our individual and collective guilt. “Don’t talk about that!” Still, our minds are haunted.
Billions have died. Many were no bigger than a grain of salt. Each of us was once that tiny.

Unborn children are dying all around us. “Don’t talk about that!” is our most frequent response. We are horrified by Jim Jones. We hide from our own millions of death-dealing decisions.

Catholics have no excuses. Catholic Teaching is clear: “Life must be protected from conception until natural death.”

Protestants have no excuses. The Bible is clear: “Thou shall not kill.”

There is One Way to be saved from the consequences our sins deserve.

Jesus.

Catholics may receive Absolution. Catholic priests are Ordained as living links with The First Catholic Bishops. They were Ordained by Jesus. Jesus gave them The Power of Absolution. Jesus promised: “Those whose sins you forgive on earth are forgiven in Heaven.”

Protestants may humbly ask God to forgive them.

We pray that all of us are honest enough to admit our sins.

We pray that all of us will ask to be forgiven for what we have done wrong.

We pray that all of us will “sin no more”.
