Catholics answer “The Mystery Question” in THIS Word of Jesus!

Mk 12:28-34 includes these Words of Jesus.

“One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him, ‘Which is the first of all the commandments?’
Jesus replied, ‘The first is this:  Hear, O Israel!  The Lord our God is Lord alone!  You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength  .  .  .”

Catholics know:  if we love God with all our mind, we will think logicallyLogic leads us to obey Him!

~

How did the scribe reply?  Logically!

The scribe said to him, ‘Well said, teacher.  You are right in saying, He is One and there is no other than He.  And to love Him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

We see that a logical person could understand The Word of Jesus!

~

And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding, He said to him,  “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.  And no one dared to ask Him any more questions.”

~

The passage concludes with The Mystery Question!  Why is it that: “no one dared to ask Him any more questions”?

Not one person asked the logical question:  How may I get into The Kingdom of God!

Not one person in the crowd dared to “ask any more questions” about that!

Why?

~

They were happy with their opinions.  They loved their opinions!   They did not want to have Jesus tell them that their opinions could be wrong!

To this day, Protestants are “not far from The Kingdom of God”.  They are like the “scribe”!  They will not “dare to ask” about replacing their opinions with grateful obedience to The Church-Founding Word of Jesus.

“And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”

For 2,000 years, Protestants have not let The Words of Jesus change their beloved opinions.
