Catholics learn a profound truth from opposites!

St. Paul is very clear about three good things in 1 Corinthians 13: 13.  “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

Catholics learn a profound truth from opposites!

The opposite of “faith” is  “faithless“.

The opposite of “hope” is “hopeless“.

The opposite of “love” is “hate”.

~

Catholics see one fact.   Many people become rich and famous by embracing the opposites of “faith, hope, and love.”

Most people follow them!  “I want to be like the rich and famous people I see on television!  I will renounce ‘faith’ in God’s Teachings.  I will give up “hope” of going to Heaven!  I will not “love” God or my neighbors!”

Those who desperately want approval, money, and fame share this belief!  “Most of the rich and famous people on television have publicly renounced ‘faith, hope, and love’.  I will, too!  Then, I will have approval, riches, and fame!”

~

The devil loves that delusion!  Billions of people proudly renounce “faith, hope, and love”One, out of every million of them, becomes rich and famous!  Soon, they understand a fact!

“I have given up ‘faith, hope, and love’.  But, I am just as poor, unhappy, and unknown as I was before!”  The smarter among them realize:  “I was led into disbelief, hopelessness, and hate.  Now, that’s all I have!”

Without “faith”, there is no “hope”.  Without “faith” and “hope”, there is no “love”.  Hate is all they have!  They end up hating themselves.   They show that by what they do!  They sin.

They hide from this fact!  “The wages of sin is death.”   Then, they sin more!

How do Catholics maintain “faith, hope, and love”?

Catholics learn a profound truth from opposites!   “When faithless, hopeless, hateful people want us to think as they do about anything, they are lying!”

Even if they’re on television!
