Every sane person agrees on one thing! “I want my immortal soul to get into Heaven!” St. John told us of the only people who could get to Heaven. 2 John is the shortest Book in the New Testament! We may read it quickly. As we read that One Page, we find something interesting.
Catholics have a new way to find Truth! Through opposites!
Catholics consider these opposites!
We see this Truth in verse 3: “In our life of truth and love, we shall have grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, . . .”
The opposite Truth? “In our death of lies and hate, we will not have grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, . . .”

Verse 6 shows more Truth in opposites!
“To love is to live according to His commandments: . . “
The opposite! “To hate is to refuse to live according to His commandments.”

Then, St. John tells us to beware of those who lead their donors to disobey Teachings of Jesus Christ!
Verse 7. “There are many deceivers about the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh; such is the deceitful one and the antichrist.”
The opposite?
“Many good Catholics have gone out into the world, those who do acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh; they do not follow the deceitful one and the antichrist . .”

St. John tells us it is our personal responsibility to obey Every Teaching of Jesus Christ!
Verse 9 “Watch yourselves, . . “
The opposite comes from those who do not take personal responsibility for their disobedience!
“I blame other people when I choose to disobey Teachings of Jesus Christ.”

Then, St. John describes those who choose to lose their own souls!
“Anyone who is so ‘progressive’ as not to remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God; whoever remains in the teaching has the Father and the Son.
The opposite?
“Anyone who chooses to remain in the teaching of the Christ has God; whoever does not remain in the teaching of Christ does not have The Father and the Son.”

“Opposites” lead us to avoid any teaching that is opposite to The Church-Founding Teaching of Jesus Christ! “And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”
