St. John keeps telling us: “Be Catholic!”

St. John obeyed Jesus. St. John tells us to obey Jesus!

Question 1: “Why does St. John keep telling us to ‘Be Catholic!’?”

Answer: “Jesus loved St. John! St. John loves us! That is why he tells us to obey Every Word from Jesus!

Question 2: “Does St. John want us to obey This Word from Jesus? ‘And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.’

Answer: “Yes! St. John wants us to have ‘those keys’! They include the 7 Catholic Sacraments and the Intercession of His Holy Saints and angels.

Question 2: “What does St. John tell ‘everyone in the world’?”

Answer: “1 Jn 2:12-17 is St. John ‘writing’ to everyone who could be Catholic for 2,000 years!

‘I am writing to you, children, because your sins have been forgiven for His Name’s sake.

‘I am writing to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning.

‘I am writing to you, young men, because you have conquered the Evil One.

‘I write to you, children, because you know The Father.

‘I write to you, fathers, because you know Him who is from the beginning.

‘I write to you, young men, because you are strong and God’s Word has made its home in you, and you have conquered the Evil One.‘”

Question 3: “What else does Jesus Christ’s ‘most beloved Disciple’ write to us?”

Answer: “‘Do not love the world or the things of the world.’

Question 4: “That’s hard! Why did St. John tell us that?

Answer: “He wants us to know! ‘the things of the world’ are there to separate His obedient sheep from willful goats! ‘If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.’

Question 5: “What ‘things of the world’ does St. John tells us to reject?”

Answer: “‘For all that is in the world, sensual lust, enticement for the eyes, and a pretentious life, is not from the Father but is from the world.’

Question 6: “Why should we resist those temptations?”

Answer: “The ‘things of the world’ are a bad investment! ‘Yet the world and its enticement are passing away.’

Question 7: “What is our reward for obeying Every Teaching of Jesus Christ?”

Answer: “‘But whoever does the will of God remains forever.’
