Many hate Jesus because He threatens their income. #25.

The last days of Jesus tell us to be careful about who we listen to.

~

Question 1:  “Whose incomes does Jesus threaten?”

Answer:  “Jesus is a threat to every person who makes money by taking money from neighbors while pretending to help them.  John 12:1-11 gives two examples of such people in Today’s Reading.

‘Six days before Passover Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.  They gave a dinner for Him there, and Martha served,
while Lazarus was one of those reclining at table with Him.
Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil made from genuine aromatic nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair;  the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.’

~

Question 2:  “Whose ‘income’ was threatened by that?”

Answer:  “The income of Judas!  ‘Then Judas the Iscariot, one of His disciples,
and the one who would betray Him, loudly demanded to know:  ‘Why was this oil not sold for three hundred days’ wages and given to the poor?’

~

Question 3:  “Wasn’t Judas right to care about the ‘poor’?”

Answer:  “Judas is God’s Example of those whose income depends on pretending to help others by stealing from them!  ‘Judas said this not because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief and held the money bag and used to steal the contributions.’

~

Question 4:  “Do Catholics see all who ‘bear false witness’ to justify ‘stealing contributions for the poor’ are greater betrayers of God and their neighbors than ordinary liars and thieves?”

Answer:  “Jesus sounded disgusted when He bluntly told Judas to ‘Leave her alone!  Let her keep this for the day of My burial.’

~

Question 5:  “What was that woman actually ‘keeping’?”

Answer:  “She was keeping a precious memory.  Of all the people ‘attending the dinner’, she was the only one chosen by God to anticipate the coming death that Judas and ‘the chief priests’ he chose to join, would bring to Jesus.”

~

Question 6:  “Were most people in learning about Lazarus coming back to life after ‘four days in the tomb’?”

Answer:  “‘The large crowd of the Jews found out that he was there and came, not only because of Him, but also to see Lazarus, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.’

~

Question 7:  “Did some people hate Jesus for raising Lazarus from the dead?”

Answer:  “Many did not want Lazarus to be living proof that Jesus could bring the dead to life!  ‘And the chief priests plotted to kill Lazarus too, because many of the Jews were turning away (not donating to them!) and believing in Jesus because of Lazarus.’

~

Question 8:  “What do Catholics learn from every Judas and group of ‘high priests’ in organizations that do not even believe in God and have incomes that depend on keeping donors from meaningfully believing that Jesus could even ‘raise them from the dead’?

Answer: “Many who enrich themselves by pretending to care about others would rather kill people than be reminded that they have chosen to be among ‘the dead’.”

~

Question 9: ” Is everyone who obeys The Call to Catholic Communion that Jesus Christ repeated 14 times ‘raised from the dead’?”

Answer:  “Those blessed to obey ‘If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.’ have been ‘raised from the dead’ for the past 2,000 years.”

~

For 2,000 years, incomes from every earthly organization have been threatened when people believe in Jesus meaningfully enough to seek these “keys”:

“And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”
