A Memorable Prophecy

Genesis 22: 6-8 tells us, in today’s reading:

“On the third day Abraham got sight of the place from afar. Then he said to his servants: “Both of you stay here with the donkey,
while the boy and I go on over yonder.
We will worship and then come back to you.”
Thereupon Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering
and laid it on his son Isaac’s shoulders,
while he himself carried the fire and the knife.”

Isaac shouldered the wood upon he was to be sacrificed. Almost two thousand years after Abraham, Jesus carried on his shoulders the wood on which He was to be sacrificed. Both Isaac and Jesus faced death. The first was saved, and the second restored, by The Loving Programmer.
