Some accuse The Catholic Church of being an “exclusive club”.  They are right.  The Catholic Church is an “exclusive club”.  No goats allowed!

The “exclusive club” had a very exclusive Founder.  He only admits people who follow His rules.  Jesus was clear:  “You are My friends if you obey My commands.”

The only way to get into His “exclusive club” is by following The Founder’s rules.  No goats allowed!

What rule did Jesus give most frequently?  He repeated, fourteen times, His bizarre standard for admission:   “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.”  No zombies allowed!

Those who reject doing what is necessary to pass the admission test can’t get in!  The only members of “The Exclusive Club” do what is necessary to receive His Actual Body and Blood in any Catholic Mass from a Catholic priest ordained in living link with His Apostles.  Those first Catholic Bishops were the first “Admission Committee”.

Some Catholics are rich.  Some are poor.  Some are healthy.  Some are sick.  Some are old.  Some are young.  Some are in between.  Still, the only way to get into the “exclusive club” is by doing what is necessary to get in.

Amazingly, everyone has a chance to be in the “exclusive club”.  “Many are called.  Few are chosen.”  Those who are chosen have decided:  “The Founder of the ‘exclusive club’ is smarter than I am.  He knows more.  I will be better off if I do what He says, rather than what I want.”

How does one join His “exclusive club”?  First, we realize we have something wrong with us.  The flaw of Pride must be washed away by Baptism.  Then, we confess our sins.  Then, we are forgiven.  Only then may we obey “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.”  Those admitted to the “exclusive club” do so.  Then, we take the additional step of learning more of the rules.  We are Confirmed.

Soon, our soul will stand before The Admission Committee beyond.  The Last Rites make us fit to enter a Club that is so exclusive we can’t even see it from here.

The Catholic Church is an “exclusive club”.  It provides entry to an even more “exclusive club” with eternal benefits beyond description.
