Catholics consider the odds of Two Prophecies coming true.

Catholics consider the odds of Two Prophecies coming true.

The Prophet Micah predicted that The Promised Messiah would be born in the tiny village of Bethlehem.  About 300 people lived in Bethlehem.  They had about 6 children per year.

There were about 70,000,000 people in The Roman Empire.  They had, at the same rate, about 233,333 children per year.  We divide that by 6.  The chances are that The Prophesied Messiah would be born in Bethlehem in any year was one in 38,888.

+

What are the odds that He would be born on the day The Wise Men arrived?  In just a ten year period, there were 3,365 days.  We multiply the odds.

One Bethlehem birth in 3,365 days times the odds of His Bethlehem birth among 388,888 Roman births puts the odds that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem at one in 141,941,200 in a ten year period!

+

Just those odds are staggering.  The Miracle becomes clearer!  The Messiah had to be born of The Tribe of Judah.  And, He had to be born in The House of David.   After centuries of persecution, there may have been a few dozen or a few hundred of them among the 70,000,000 Roman peoples!

And, He had to be born when The Wise Men were led to arrive in the tiny, far-away village of Bethlehem to validate The Prophecies.

+

The odds become billions to one that Jesus is The Prophesied Messiah.  Then, we move beyond mere statistics to Miracle!

The rising of Jesus from the dead is prophesied by Hosea, 6:2.  “He will revive us after two days;  on the third day – He will raise us up, to live in His presence.”

On the Second Day, “He descended into hell.”  Dante describes how Jesus “harrowed hell”.   He smashed its structures while He “revived the souls of those who had done God’s Will in the times before His coming.

“On the third day”, He rose from the dead.  He spent the next fifty days teaching His First Catholic Bishops.  He taught them of the Teachings and Structure of The Church He had Spoken Into Being with His Word.

“And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”

This Prophecy was also fulfilled!  Isaiah 25: 8.

“He will destroy death forever.  The Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from all faces;  The reproach of His people he will remove from the whole earth; for the LORD has spoken.”
