Comments on the commentators of Revelations.

There are many similarities in the visions of Heaven that are recorded by Daniel, Ezekiel, and The Book of Revelations. It’s surprising how many commentators repeat words to the effect that “John was heavily incfluenced by Daniel.” Or, “John’s writing about his vision of Heaven follows the tradition established by Ezekiel.” Even more pretentious, “Johannine writing (that means ‘things John wrote”) follows established eschatological channels begun by Daniel.”

Not one commentator whom I’ve read has ever said “Daniel, Ezekiel, and John all went to Heaven and saw just about the same things when they got there.”
