God rewards those who are nicest to our enemies.

God's Surprise:  Those who love themselves the most become The Best Catholics.

God’s Surprise:  Those who love themselves the most become The Best Catholics.

Question 1:  “Does The Bible give an example of a person being helped by being nice to an enemy?”

Answer “Today’s Catholic Bible Reading includes Passages from 1 Samuel 26:2-23 that describe King Saul trying to kill David with 3,000 ‘picked soldiers’.  David crept into Saul’s encampment and could have killed him.  Instead, he stole his spear and water jug so that all Saul’s followers would know their leader was trying to kill a man who spared the life of ‘God’s anointed’.”

Question 2: “Do we learn from Today’s Psalm (103:1-4,8, 10, 12-13) that ‘The Lord is kind and merciful’?”

Answer:  “‘The Lord is kind and merciful, He pardons all your iniquities, heals your ills, redeems your life from destruction, crowns you with kindness and compassion, and does not deal with us according to our sins or requite us according to our crimes.  He has compassion on those who fear Him.’

Question 3:  “Did Jesus tell His followers to be kind and merciful?

Answer: “Jesus tells us more ways to be kind and merciful in Luke 6:27-38 than many wanted to know!

‘Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.  To the person who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well.  From the person who takes your cloak do not withhold even your tunic.  Give to everyone who asks of you, and from the one who takes what is yours, do not demand it back.  Do to others as you would have them do unto you.’

Question 4: “Did people hate to hear how nice Jesus wants us to be?”

Answer: “The dumb people did!  Then, He asked three questions that helped those who love themselves the most to be as Catholic as we can!

1. ‘For if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you?  Even sinners love those who love them.
2. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you?  Even sinners do the same.
3. If you lend money to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you?  Even sinners lend to sinners and get back the same amount.’

Then, Jesus gave these teachings to people who wanted God’s Best for themselves!

1. Love your enemies and do good to them

2. Lend expecting nothing back;

3. Be merciful as your Father is merciful.

4. Stop judging and you will not be judged.

5.  Stop condemning and you will not be condemned.

6. Forgive and you will be forgiven.

7.  Give, and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap.  For the measure with which you measure will in turn be measured out to you.”

Question 4:  “Does this mean we should ‘Be Catholic!’?”

Answer:  “Those who meaningfully respect The Church-Creating Word of Jesus to His First Catholic Pope have these ‘keys’ be ‘measured out’ to us ‘And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.’?”
