How big is God? Elijah saw God! He tells us how big God is in 1 Kings 19: 11-13:

“And he said to him: Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord: and behold the Lord passeth, and a great and strong wind before the Lord over throwing the mountains, and breaking the rocks in pieces: the Lord is not in the wind, and after the wind an earthquake: the Lord is not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake a fire: the Lord is not in the fire, and after the fire a whistling of a gentle air.”

Other translations describe Elijah’s vision of God as a “puff of wind”, a “gentle whisper” or “a light, murmuring sound”.

We can compare a “puff of wind” to a human breath, as when a smoker exhales. We have all heard “a gentle whisper”. All of us know what a “light, murmuring sound” is. They tell us that God is not huge and overpowering. God is able to produce beings that are “huge and overpowering”.

We wonder if God is a Living Cloud of “Holy Electrons”? He may be sending endlessly regenerating parts of Himself into the Wine and Wafer of Catholic Communion, providing The Miracle of Transubstantiation!

. . . . .

Each of us was created at conception. Then, our body was smaller than a grain of salt. Our spirit and our soul were within that! Our soul controls the spirit that rules our huge bodies. Our soul is to our bodies as God is to all Creation!

Our soul is a human-sized “puff of wind”, “gentle whisper”, and “light, murmuring sound”!

Just as God made and controls the vast Creation Program, our soul controls our spirits, minds, and bodies. The sanest thing we can do is keep them obedient to God’s Directions.

How big is God? The Gentle Lamb of God was big enough to die in pain to provide “the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven” to those who would choose to obey His only Church-Founding Decree:

“And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”

Catholic souls are able to resist those who want us to disobey Jesus! Catholics obey Jesus! We may be blessed to be among “You are My friends if you obey My commands.”
