How much money does The Catholic Church have? Many of The Profiteers of Protestantism tell their donors: “The Catholic Church has too much money!”

They invent amazing stories. “The miles of stone walls in and around The Vatican are actually made out of solid gold blocks! The mortar that holds them together is melted platinum. Deceptive Catholics painted them to look like stone.”

+

Bizarre stories go on. “Two gallons of fine diamonds are in each gold block. Every Catholic is given a “Gold Certificate”. Every Catholic owns a piece of gold as big as loaf of bread and one pint of diamonds.”

Lies become preposterous. “There is a huge, underground palace beneath the basement of every Catholic Church. Each one is a Branch Office of The Vatican Bank. They are run by two hundred thousand Jesuit bankers dressed up like priests! Each of them has at least one Doctoral Degree in Finance.”

+

All the fairy tales about Catholic riches end with this nonsense: “. . . and if The Catholic Church sold all Her possessions and gave them to the poor, poverty would be wiped out.”

+

The facts differ. The Catholic Church would be lucky to get a hundred billion dollars if all its assets were sold. There are 5 billion poor people in the world. If that money could magically be “given to the poor”, each poor person in the world might get about $20.00, less distribution costs of a few dollars per person.

+

Would the poor be helped? 140,000 Catholic schools, 10,000 Catholic orphanages, 5,000 Catholic hospitals, 16,000 Catholic health clinics, and 200,000 Catholic parishes would be closed.

Billions of poor people would forever lose the assistance Catholics have provided them for 2,000 years.

Many of The Profiteers of Protestantism are in favor of that. So are many bureaucracies. So is everyone who does not like to have reminders that Jesus Founded One Church when He Decreed:

“And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.”

. . . . . . . . . . . .
