Ignorance, better than bliss.

The other side has many ways to destroy us. One of their most obvious attacks is the constant barrage of bad news with which we are assailed.

Sometimes at yard sales or book stores, we have an opportunity to buy old magazines that purported then, as now, to be dedicated to “news”. When we look at old issues, we find the same endless, ongoing, churning hysteria.

They sometimes seem hurt that we do not pay attention to them. But, like the little boy who cried wolf, in the fairy tale that’s no longer told, their alarms are always false.

If we pay attention to them, they win. When we are alarmed, and react as they desire, they win more. We end up paying “protection” money for imaginary problems.

Arguing does little good. Pointing out their errors, past and present, does less. It just drives them deeper into error, and forces them to publicly say that there is validity in their error, which makes it harder for them to save their souls.

We must not be surprised or angry as we discover the depth of their lies. Of course they lie. That’s all the poor, lost souls can do. We cannot straighten them out by arguing. Intellectually, they are a slightly less odiferous version of the homeless people who prefer to live under bridges. They want to lie, they like to lie, and that’s what they’ve chosen to do.

The only thing we can do is love them. Pray for them. Most of all, ignore them. When we think of all the happy families there are who are happy because they ignore the endless doomsayers, we can see that ignorance of some things is a very worthwhile goal.
