It is easy to become “addicted” to things we desire!

It is easy to become “addicted” to things we desire! Worldly people tell us that addiction is: “the condition of being addicted to a particular substance, thing, or activity.”

Catholics know there is a spiritual component to addiction.

1. Every addiction is a violation of The First Commandment: “Thou shall have no other gods before Me.”

2. Addictions lead us to put our desires “before” God.

3. Therefore, addictions are caused by demons.

4. Catholics go farther! We realize that every addiction is a demon!

Addictions are demons. They have corrupted parts of our minds. They have led us to put our desires “before” God.

~

There are seven tribes of demons. Their names are Pride, Envy, Greed, Gluttony, Anger, Lust, and Sloth. Each one addicts us to different desires. Catholics cure addictions with four logical steps.

First, we accurately define the desire we spend time thinking about.

Second, we ask: “Is this desire pleasing to God?”

Third, we identify which of the seven kinds of demons is that desire in our mind.

Fourth, we ask The Prince of The Heavenly Host for help!

“St Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray. And do thou, O Prince of The Heavenly host, by The Power of God cast into hell satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the earth seeking the ruin of souls.”

~

St. Michael may lead us to ask two time-centered questions!

1. “If I get what I desire, will I be closer to, or farther from, God?”

Then,

2. “If I get what I want, will I condemn myself or others to an eternity of suffering?”

~

What if we still desire what we know we should not have?

Catholics cry out to The Holy Father, The Holy Son, The Holy Spirit: “Please, God, ask St. Michael to drive this demon out of my mind!”

Catholics pray that all may be blessed to think clearly enough to ask that! We also pray that all who are made too confused to ask God for His help will be forgiven.
