Jeremiah tells us what “curse” will “bless” us. #52.

Those who become Catholic see the connection between Jeremiah and Jesus.

Question 1. “Does Jeremiah tell us whom God has blessed?”

Answer: “In Today’s Catholic Reading, Jeremiah 15-10, 16-21 tells us: ‘Woe to me, mother, that you gave me birth, a man of strife and contention to all the land! I neither borrow nor lend, yet all curse me.’

~

Question 2: “How did Jeremiah see the evil in both ‘borrowing’ and ‘lending’?”

Answer: “Jeremiah read The Bible! ‘When I found Your Words, I devoured them; they became my joy and the happiness of my heart, because I bore Your Name, O Lord, God of hosts.’

~

Question 3: “What did God bless Jeremiah to avoid?”

Answer: “Jeremiah was not among the ‘borrowers’ and ‘lenders’! ‘I did not sit celebrating in the circle of merrymakers; Under the weight of Your Hand I sat alone because You filled me with indignation.’

~

Question 4: “What was Jeremiah ‘indignant’ about?”

Answer: “He saw that ‘borrowing’ and ‘lending’ led people to destroy themselves and their neighbors.”

~

Question 5: “Does Psalm 59:4 in Today’s Catholic Reading tell Jeremiah that powerful people wanted to destroy him?”

Answer: “‘For behold, they lie in wait for my life; mighty men come together against me, not for any offense or sin of mine, O Lord.’

~

Question 6: “Where did Jeremiah find safety from ‘mighty men’?”

Answer: “‘God is my refuge on the day of distress.’

~

Question 7: “Does Jesus help us understand that Jeremiah’s hatred of ‘borrowing’ and ‘lending’ led ‘mighty men against’ him?”

Answer: “Mt. 13:44-46 tells us twice to not be a ‘borrower’ or ‘lender’! ‘Jesus said to His disciples: ‘The Kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
Again, the Kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it.’

~

Question 8: “Does Jesus say to not ‘borrow’?”

Answer: “We only get closer to God by ‘selling’ what we already have. Catholics begin by ‘getting rid’ of every self-serving idea that keeps us from obeying The Eternal, Specific, Church-Creating Word of Jesus Christ to His First Catholic Pope:

‘And I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven.’

~

May all be blessed to respect He Who Fulfilled The Prophecies enough to ‘sell what we have’, be Catholic, and get the only “keys to The Kingdom of Heaven” that Jesus died to give to His First Catholic Pope.
