The great excuse: “Jesus was speaking symbolically.”

When Jesus was a boy, He taught in The Temple.  Protestants know that He was telling the truth when He did so.  They know the scribes and priests were astonished at His Wisdom and Knowledge.

But, those same people do not listen to Jesus when He spoke as an adult!  He repeated His clear call to Catholic Communion:  “If you do not eat My Body and drink My Blood you do not have life in you.” an astonishing fourteen times!

Protestants are united in believing:  “Jesus didn’t really mean that!”

Catholics ask the obvious question:  “Then, why did He say it so often?”

Protestants invariably reply:  “Jesus was speaking symbolically.”

They say the same thing when reminded of The Only Church-Founding Decree that Jesus made when He said very clearly:

“. . I say unto you thou art Peter and on this rock I build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I give you the keys to The Kingdom of Heaven. . .”

Those who want to avoid the need to be in The Only Church Jesus Founded repeat, yet again, “Jesus was speaking symbolically.”

When told of the power to provide absolution that Jesus gave His First Catholic Bishops, and those ordained in living link with them:  “Those whose sins you forgive on earth are forgiven in Heaven.”, Protestants invariably intone:

“Jesus was speaking “symbolically“.

When asked, “How may anyone who refuses to obey Jesus be blessed to be forever among “You are My friends if you obey My commands.”?, we hear the same response:

“Jesus was speaking symbolically.”

When anyone justifies disobeying any of Jesus’ Teachings, they do so by reducing Him to a reflection of their personal opinions.

Those who value their personal opinions more than the Teachings of Jesus have learned to justify avoiding His Teachings by repeating whenever necessary:

“Jesus was speaking symbolically.”

Those who say that often nod wisely each time they repeat “Jesus was speaking symbolically.”
